[Integration Update] "Advanced Utilities" will allow you to find all matches for a RegEx

In this post, I’m happy to announce some updates to my Advanced Utilities integration. If you haven’t read my previous post where I introduced this integration, feel free to check it out here.The new update introduces a new action called Extract Pattern (RegEx) which as the name states, allows you to find matches for a regular expression in an input text.Unlike the built-in Formatter → Extract Pattern which will only return the first match, this action will find and return all matches. I noticed this feature was requested by many users so I thought it would be nice to add it to this integration.Extract Pattern setup allows you to toggle RegEx flags as wellExtract Pattern action returns all matches for the given regexMatch information as can be seen on Regex101 website for the same regexAlso, this update includes some improvements to the Run JavaScript Code action. [New Integration] Advanced Utilities

Hey everyone, I would like to share a custom Zapier integration I built to solve a few problems. The integration provides the following action steps. I hope you find it helpful. :) --- Run JavaScript Code: This is kind of a clone of the regular Code Step. Nothing fancy, it just comes with some useful tools available in the global scope. It also supports modern JavaScript async/await. The global scope includes the following utilities: moment: The well-known moment.js library that helps when dealing with date/time. _: Lodash library that makes it easier to work with objects and arrays. Zap setup JSON export mapping

I discovered a new feature today (to me anyway) - the ability to export a json file of your zap set-up. To get there click on new info button next to zap title: This will take you to the following page: I remember there was a way to export this json previously but it was not so front-and-center. Now that more people will likely be exporting this file can anybody provide a mapping of the json elements with which apps are used etc? (at the moment the json is all very cryptic). If so, it may be possible to do build a zap feeding this data into a diagramming app like Lucid Charts with a pre-built template and have a cool visual flow diagram of every zap - something I’ve been longing for for ages!

Error Handling For A Specific Step (aka Automatically Repeat A Step If It Fails)

I’ve run into this often and have a decent work around so by posting it here hopefully this can help others. The issue: Zapier steps that “depend” on the output from a previous step will fail if the previous step fails or has an issue. This can happen for a number of reasons, like the webhook step had an error, or (and this has been happening A LOT lately) an app like Google Sheets responds with an error like 500 “Server Error time out”. Or a search step fails and you don’t want to create a record Or the application doesn’t give you that option. I want to make my zaps smarter and to work around these issues. As you’ll see below It takes a number of extra steps and paths to do this, so I only do it on critical zap steps or where failures are common. For example if I try to post to a Google Spreadsheet and I get a time out error I want the zap to take a delay and then make another attempt. Or if there was a failure in finding a row or a contact or whatever the search was I want the zap t

COVID-19 screening forms for a bulk list of employees

So, the need that we heard about was for Covid 19 screening forms for employees and visitors to US places of business. Every morning at 6 am the plan was to send out the forms to all employees who were on the list. They had to complete the form and if they were high risk based on answers then HR is notified. If they are low risk, they got a pass to show up. Solution: Zapier’s new schedule function as a Zap runs each morning at 6am. This Zap begins a workflow for the HR person to update the spreadsheet and click to run a google script! The google script pulled names and emails from the google sheet and sent over to OnTask. OnTask sent out the forms to all that were on the list to fill out and sign. Conditional routing in OnTask sent them to HR or gave them the all clear and reported this all back to HR. As U.S. businesses reopen, what are you all doing around Covid-19 contact tracing, screening, et cetera? Using Zapier for anything related to your plan?

How to auto generate presentations in a few minutes

Hi there, I used to spend a lot of time working on monthly reports for the sales department, I know how painful and time-consuming it could be to create presentations from scratch. That's why I'd like to share one zap idea that will help you to automatically create PowerPoint presentations with charts and diagrams in just a few minutes. In Zapier it's possible to pass data, say, from web forms to the process which will populate a pre-made PowerPoint template with form entry data. For that, I use Plumsail Documents integration. It supports PPTX templates and it works like a charm. I just submit some data and get a ready presentation with visualization of this data. I used it in conjunction with Typeform. The same approach could be applied to generate presentations from CRM systems.

Automatically Change the Due Date of a Trello Card, Every Month

The Challenge "I want zap that will make a Trello card change date monthly when I have done a task. Like a calendar reminder in emails that comes up every month on the same day every month" What this user wanted was to use Trello like a monthly reminder, without having to keep changing due dates. So the reminder on the 26th of the month would let her know it was due, then be changed automatically to the 26th of next month. She didn't even want the Trigger to be marking that card as complete. Just change it to the subsequent month, recurring. The Solution Trello has a Trigger called New Notification. When you are assigned a card or are subscribed to it, Trello gives you a notification 24 hours before that card is due. So if something is due on August 26th, Trello will tell you on August 25th. That triggers the Zap. We also want to add a filter to make sure the notification is one telling you a card is due soon. We could add a filter for the board or list if we needed to. We t

Best practices for building line items in Google docss

Hey I’ve come up with a few different ways of building line items (e.g. for an invoice) in Google Sheets via Zapier, and I’m sure there are people out there who have done this better than me. Does anyone have any best practices here? If I have a non-standard number of line items, and I’m using line item support to build the invoice from a template in Google Docs what’s the best way you’ve found to do this?

Suggestion - Sengrid

It would be very useful if SendGrid integration allowed for CC and/or BCC fields. Especially since SendGrid is sun setting feature to automatically BCC an email by default.

A Zap to remind you to stretch at random times of the day!

I work at a computer all day - I slouch, I slump, I droop, and I stoop. It’s not long before those cricks add up that only a good stretch can alleviate. I know myself, though - if I have a reminder to stretch at the same time every day, I’ll soon ignore it. So, I set up a Zap to remind me to stretch at RANDOM times of the day so I never know when it’s coming! It’s a lot harder to ignore surprises! This one’s an easy set up. It uses Schedule by Zapier as the daily trigger. Then, there’s a first Formatter step. It uses a pick list to randomize the time of the day - I’ve set it to select a random time between 9 AM and 5 PM. Next, it uses a Delay step to delay the Zap so you’re only notified at the correct time of day. It has one more Formatter pick list to randomly select from a list of exercise links that I found online. Lastly, it sends me a Slack message that includes the exercise links. Twitter shut down SMS notifications. Get them back!

Hey, Justin here from the Zapier blog. I thought I’d let you know that you can use Zapier to bring back Twitter’s SMS notifications, if you want to. I’d also like to ask for some help. I try to keep track of features that companies drop to see if there’s some way to use Zapier to bring them back, and this was a great little use case. Can you guys think of any more disappearing features? Maybe we can come up with more ideas like this together.

Regex with Code by Zapier to clean and reformat your phone number data

Are you pulling phone number data in through a Zapier trigger and trying to format it before passing it into your Zapier action? I work at a scheduling company and was trying to solve this problem because people use all sorts of characters, like hyphens, periods, parenthesis, spaces, and so forth. To make sure all phone numbers are formatted the same way, we wrote a zap sequence that will work as an intermediary step between any two approved Zapier apps. The python-regex portion of this solution will strip out all the unwanted characters so that only a string of numbers remains. This solution works best if you are formatting phone numbers for a single country. If anyone gets through the article and has thoughts on how that could be improved, I’m all ears. I provide the regex script about halfway down the page, if you want to skip straight to it. A Slack reminder to stretch every day

So I made a Zap that reminds me every day at 3pm to stretch. I get a Slack message encouraging me to stretch, and I’ve added a 10-minute yoga video. I’m wondering if folks have ideas for how I can make this better! For instance, I was thinking about integrating my calendar somehow. I was also thinking about using Google Sheets to create a list of short Yoga videos, and have them attach to the Zap randomly. Get some variety in there. I’m curious if others have any thoughts! Are you having trouble receiving emails from Zapier?

Try the below tips to help retrieve your Zapier emails:Check your email’s Spam folderTake a look in your Spam folder to see if the email has accidentally been sent there If you locate our emails, simply unmark them as spam and move them to an alternate folder (Inbox, Zapier, etc). This should prevent any future Zapier messages from being flagged by your email provider. You can also ‘whitelist’ the zapier.com domain so that any emails that end in Zapier.com will make it to your inbox. If your email is provided by your company, you may need to speak to your IT team about this.Search all of your emailsUse your email’s search function to look for any emails from an address that ends in ‘@zapier.com’.
