Deleting files in Google Drive solution

I use Google Slides and a Google Drive folder on a free Google account to create “course completion certificates” for people who complete training. My zap also emails the certificate and saves it into my database. Since I have limited storage space on the free account and it’s already stored in my database, I don’t want the old certificates just hanging out taking up space. I was looking to make a zap that would delete the certificates or move them to the trash folder. As I was trying to set this up, I learned that it’s not possible using Zapier.I looked on the forum and found a closed thread called “Deleting files in Google Drive” posted by @Martinewski that had some back and forth with @TheDavidJohnson @jesse @john_fohrman @alex but there was no real solution there. I’ve just recently started tinkering with Google Scripts and I’ve found a solution to the problem. What's your favorite two-step Zap?

I love a Zap with filters and paths that can perform all kinds of wonderful automations, but I'm also partial to things that are simple yet powerful. What's your favourite two-step Zap? One that I have that's helpful is a 'Slack Reacji watcher' - when a certain emoji reaction is added to message in Slack, it sends me a DM. It's very useful for flagging certain types of messages. Check spreadsheet records on a schedule

Hi there! Tim here from the Zapier Support Team with a workflow idea. Background I’ve seen many users write in and ask for a Zap that can do the following: Trigger on a Schedule, like once per week, for example Pull in multiple rows from a Spreadsheet Check each row for a particular condition Run some actions for each row if that condition is met An example might be checking to see if there are any leads in a spreadsheet that haven’t replied to you and generating notifications saying that they need another reach out. I’ve also wanted a Zap that can do this from time to time, but it was a tricky problem that didn’t seem to have a solution. Recently I did find a way to do this that I’d like to share with you. This method works by leveraging the Airtable API in a Code Step, so to use it, your rows would need to be in an Airtable. If you’re not familiar with Airtable, it works and feels a lot like a Spreadsheet app, and also has database features for linking records to each

Run a Zap every 2 Weeks

Hey zapier folk,I had the problem that for a customer a Zap has to be executed every two weeks. I would like to present my solution to you and I'am open to alternative solutions or issues I haven't considered. First I used the trigger "Schedule by Zapier" and selected "Every Week" as the event.In a code block I determine the weeks between the current day and the beginning of time (1970 😀). After that I determine with the modulo operation whether the week is even (0) or odd (1). import datetimedate_delta = datetime.date.today() - datetime.date.fromtimestamp(0)return {"continue" : int(date_delta.days/7)%2}Then I check with a filter if the Zap should be continued in even (0) or odd (1) weeks. A Slack reminder to stretch every day

So I made a Zap that reminds me every day at 3pm to stretch. I get a Slack message encouraging me to stretch, and I’ve added a 10-minute yoga video. I’m wondering if folks have ideas for how I can make this better! For instance, I was thinking about integrating my calendar somehow. I was also thinking about using Google Sheets to create a list of short Yoga videos, and have them attach to the Zap randomly. Get some variety in there. I’m curious if others have any thoughts! Suggestion - Sengrid

It would be very useful if SendGrid integration allowed for CC and/or BCC fields. Especially since SendGrid is sun setting feature to automatically BCC an email by default.

Best practices for building line items in Google docss

Hey I’ve come up with a few different ways of building line items (e.g. for an invoice) in Google Sheets via Zapier, and I’m sure there are people out there who have done this better than me. Does anyone have any best practices here? If I have a non-standard number of line items, and I’m using line item support to build the invoice from a template in Google Docs what’s the best way you’ve found to do this?

Google Sheets is a surprisingly powerful tool, and is accessible to most people as it’s free!One of the reasons that I use it a lot is because there are a lot of Triggers and Actions for Google Sheets in Zapier. For example, I log Toggl time records there so that I can better analyze how I spend my time, I use it as a lookup table so that I can easily add new lookup items to a Zap and I've helped users who use it as a way of triggering another Zap from individual line items in a list. How to auto generate presentations in a few minutes

Hi there, I used to spend a lot of time working on monthly reports for the sales department, I know how painful and time-consuming it could be to create presentations from scratch. That's why I'd like to share one zap idea that will help you to automatically create PowerPoint presentations with charts and diagrams in just a few minutes. In Zapier it's possible to pass data, say, from web forms to the process which will populate a pre-made PowerPoint template with form entry data. For that, I use Plumsail Documents integration. It supports PPTX templates and it works like a charm. I just submit some data and get a ready presentation with visualization of this data. I used it in conjunction with Typeform. The same approach could be applied to generate presentations from CRM systems.

Weird hack (or bug?!) that allows you to post a new GSheet row at the top instead of the bottom

So, I discovered this one by accident and I'm guessing this is a bug, either with Google Sheet's API or Zapier's integration, but I found a way to post a new row at the top of a Google Sheet instead of the bottom.Say you want a sheet with 4 columns - what you need to do is set up a Google Sheet with 6 columns. Important - the 1st column needs to be left completely blank - no header or anything data at all in that column.For the other columns you intend to use, the header row should be left blank.The final column you don't intend to use should have a header - this is so the other columns appear as mappable in the Zapier editor.You'll then want to put a dummy row in:Now try adding a row to that sheet with Zapier:I have no idea why, but if you test it, you'll end up with this:Test again with different data and it will still add the row at the top:The only possible use case I had for this is if you wanted to have all the rows on a Google Sheet trigger a zap at

Triggering a Zap from existing items in an RSS feed

It's easy to trigger a Zap from new items in an RSS feed using the RSS by Zapier app, but did you know that it's also pretty simple to trigger a Zap from existing items?This workaround uses a really useful function in Google Sheets called IMPORTFEED, which will import existing items from an RSS feed into your Google Sheet. Here's how you can use it trigger a Zap:Import get the RSS feed link. In this case, I grabbed the one for Zapier's blog: Open a fresh sheet in Google Sheets and in the first cell type =IMPORTFEED("url-of-RSSfeed")Look at the information in from the feed to figure out what column headers you'll need for your Zap. In a new sheet, add the headers. Set up your Zap using the Google Sheets New Row in Spreadsheet trigger, make sure that it's triggering from your new sheet with the header row. Regex with Code by Zapier to clean and reformat your phone number data

Are you pulling phone number data in through a Zapier trigger and trying to format it before passing it into your Zapier action? I work at a scheduling company and was trying to solve this problem because people use all sorts of characters, like hyphens, periods, parenthesis, spaces, and so forth. To make sure all phone numbers are formatted the same way, we wrote a zap sequence that will work as an intermediary step between any two approved Zapier apps. The python-regex portion of this solution will strip out all the unwanted characters so that only a string of numbers remains. This solution works best if you are formatting phone numbers for a single country. If anyone gets through the article and has thoughts on how that could be improved, I’m all ears.
