I love a Zap with filters and paths that can perform all kinds of wonderful automations, but I'm also partial to things that are simple yet powerful. What's your favourite two-step Zap? One that I have that's helpful is a 'Slack Reacji watcher' - when a certain emoji reaction is added to message in Slack, it sends me a DM. It's very useful for flagging certain types of messages. What have you accomplished with a Zap that only has the trigger and one action?
Tried to post this earlier but the board ate my draft I guess! Anyhow, someone on Reddit asked about Zapier allowing them to use a Google Form response with a collected email address to send that respondent a coupon through Voucherify, and this was the solution I came up with for integration after doing a bunch of digging around in Voucherify's documentation. Looks like Voucherify is "by Invitation" in Zapier at the moment, so just wanted to share it on here as a kind of tutorial in case someone else has a question about this app!(Note: I didn't handle the part on Voucherify that lets you automatically send coupons to new customers, just set up the webhook steps to get Google Forms to make something happen in Voucherify; I'm assuming anyone proficient in that app could or would probably know how to automate contacts once they arrive in the system).Visit https://support.voucherify.io/article/269-zapier and follow the “Go here to add the Voucherify app” link (ma

I just spent the last few hours trying to figure out why updating a cell in a row using a formula did not appear to be triggering my Zap.If you manually update data in a row, the Find Data function in the editor will work just fine.However, if a formula is changing the data in a row, then the Find Data function will not return any data. It just times out after 3 minutes with the "We had trouble finding a sample." error message.At first, I thought it was some kind of limitation with Google Sheets or Zapier. Maybe you couldn't use formulas to trigger your Zap. But that did not make a lot of sense. Several searches did not turn up any information one way or the other.Finally, I tried testing the Zap live. And it worked!Bottom line:If your Sheet is using a formula to update data in a row, and if you are trying to get sample data, it will not work! You have to test by enabling your zap.Not sure if this is a bug or intentionally designed that way, but it sure had me running ar
Google Sheets is a surprisingly powerful tool, and is accessible to most people as it’s free!One of the reasons that I use it a lot is because there are a lot of Triggers and Actions for Google Sheets in Zapier. For example, I log Toggl time records there so that I can better analyze how I spend my time, I use it as a lookup table so that I can easily add new lookup items to a Zap and I've helped users who use it as a way of triggering another Zap from individual line items in a list. This was first brought to my attention by @alex in a different post here in the Zapier Community. But I wanted to elaborate on it here as a hack which is even documented by Zapier. (so perhaps it's a tip and not a hack?) Here was the original post where Alex suggested this. Polling quicker than 5 minutes My specific use case is that QuickBooks (intuit Developer) gives only one field for a Webhook URL to call however you can check multiple types of things that will trigger this webhook. (see image below, single endpoint URL, lots of Entities and Actions which will call that endpoint)And since Alex mentioned it and within the system I'm building speed is of utmost importance I dug and found this little gem in the webhook help documentation Webhooks by Zapier - Integration Help & Support | Zapier As it turns out you need to comma separate the IDs from the Webhook URLs for the trigger steps as you see here:That's the tip. Hi everyone,I don't know if other people have already discovered this but I learned this today from Zapier support and thought it was worth sharing...Normally, when you set up a filter, you have to manually type the value of the filter i.e. the number or text you'd like the filter to check. This isn't great if the thing you want to filter is dynamic and the value is different every time. Wouldn't it be great if the filter let you pick a field from a dropdown menu (a bit like you do within an action step).Well, apparently you can type in a special variable which will get Zapier to pull the correct variable from the appropriate step.I explained this a bit clearer in this video hopefully: https://www.loom.com/share/7408dca840a24a439baff062ac0a586aAgain, not sure if I'm late to the game here. When it comes to adding a new Deal to Zoho CRM using Zapier, it’s all in the order of steps: add the Account first, then the Contact, then the Deal. To do that with the updated Zoho CRM integration, you need to select the action ‘Create/Update Module’ for each action in the Zap, so the Zap will look broadly like this: For each step, choose the ‘module’ that you’re creating or updating (Accounts, Contacts or Deals), then select the layout that you’d like to use. It’s important to add the ‘duplicate check field’ as this is the field that Zoho will use to see if there’s an existing entry that needs to be update, or whether it should add a new item. For the Account step, add any details that you need and test the step to move onto the next action. For the action to add the Contact, don’t forget to link the contact to the account by adding the Account name. To do that:1. Use the dropdown to pick ‘Use a Custom Value' 2. What's your magnum opus of Zapier? A zap that's really interesting and/or a real time saver.For me it's a zap I've built that taps incoming tweets for mentions of Zapier, filters for a bunch of things (did you know, "zapier" means something in Polish) and then consolidates them into a morning digest spreadsheet for me to look at. For added bonus points I've added a path that alerts me on Slack to any tweets that contain a question mark. The idea being that these are people that might need help with Zapier that I can try and convert into customers.I'm interested to get some inspiration from others!
One of the functions of the Formatter app is 'Spreadsheet Style formula'. It allows you to run the information from previous steps of a Zap through a formula. This workflow allows you to add an a specific image in an email based on information from the trigger. Let's say you're a small sales team and share an inbox. When you get an new assigned client in your CRM, you want to send them an email from your shared inbox, but you want it to have the signature and headshot of the salesperson that the client has been assigned to. Here's how you can do that...Get your images onlineFirst, you'll need to make sure that you have all of the images stored online. Make sure that they're all the size that you're going to want them in the email. The file will need to end in the file type (eg .jpg, .png, etc). Google Drive isn't great for this kind of thing, because the links that it generates are for viewing or downloading rather than a stored file. In a perfect world, the best place to host the image would be on your own server, if that's not possible then an image hosting service like imgur should do the trick. A g
Hey guys!If you're like me, you find yourself testing new zaps and zap ideas constantly. One common problem though, if you are just trying to test an Action, is that you still need a trigger! If you try and test your Action step without a trigger, you'll be hit with one of these: Instead of going through the hassle of setting up a trigger from an actual integration, simply use the 'Schedule by Zapier' utility as your trigger, and keep moving with your Action!You can set it up with any day and any time, so you don't have to waste any time figuring things out, also the test will always work, so it's a very quick fix. It might seem straightforward, but it can save a lot of time. Let me know what you use in these situations! :)

Mod Edit: 03-23-2022Round robins are pretty popular with my clients and I'm sure many others - usually used to assign leads evenly across a team when creating deals/contacts in CRMs like Pipedrive, Salesforce, Hubspot etc.While it's quite easy to create them using a lookup table in your zap, adding/removing/reordering means editing your zap each time which isn't ideal.I set out to find an easy solution to this - and managed to build a round robin zap that can be managed directly from a Google Sheet.It's starts with this template:Round Robin Template Column B and C are obvious, and more could be added as needed.Column A is the start of the magic - it marks that person's position in the RR using the formula "=ROW()-1"Notice what happens if you move someone from below the black bar into the RR - the positions remain correct:You'll also notice the count changes - this is achieved using another formula: "=COUNT(A2:A6)"The extra blank black row acts a buffer - when you move rows up into that
It's easy to trigger a Zap from new items in an RSS feed using the RSS by Zapier app, but did you know that it's also pretty simple to trigger a Zap from existing items?This workaround uses a really useful function in Google Sheets called IMPORTFEED, which will import existing items from an RSS feed into your Google Sheet. Here's how you can use it trigger a Zap:Import get the RSS feed link. In this case, I grabbed the one for Zapier's blog: Open a fresh sheet in Google Sheets and in the first cell type =IMPORTFEED("url-of-RSSfeed")Look at the information in from the feed to figure out what column headers you'll need for your Zap. In a new sheet, add the headers. Set up your Zap using the Google Sheets New Row in Spreadsheet trigger, make sure that it's triggering from your new sheet with the header row. Google Sheets is an AWESOME app, that I use loads. However those of you who use it a lot may have experienced your zaps breaking after someone (maybe a team member or customer) edits the sheet in certain ways.Here is what I do when I set up Google Sheets for customers:I always create a Worksheet at the very beginning titled "Instructions":This is the standard text I use:This may seem a bit draconian, but unfortunately I have run into issues with these with so many different permutations that it's difficult to narrow them down. One of the permutations, for example, related to whether the connected Google account was a standard account or part of G Suite. So, I discovered this one by accident and I'm guessing this is a bug, either with Google Sheet's API or Zapier's integration, but I found a way to post a new row at the top of a Google Sheet instead of the bottom.Say you want a sheet with 4 columns - what you need to do is set up a Google Sheet with 6 columns. Important - the 1st column needs to be left completely blank - no header or anything data at all in that column.For the other columns you intend to use, the header row should be left blank.The final column you don't intend to use should have a header - this is so the other columns appear as mappable in the Zapier editor.You'll then want to put a dummy row in:Now try adding a row to that sheet with Zapier:I have no idea why, but if you test it, you'll end up with this:Test again with different data and it will still add the row at the top:The only possible use case I had for this is if you wanted to have all the rows on a Google Sheet trigger a zap at
