The Challenge The Solution The Zap Here’s a Shared Zap Wrapping UpToday’s Workflows & Workarounds article is in response to a question we received here in the Zapier community:The ChallengeThis user wanted to output a specific word based on which date range a value fell into. So, for example, today is 5/11/2022. Using this table, we’d want to output the word “alpha”. startDate endDate value 5/10/22 5/23/22 alpha 5/24/22 6/6/22 beta 6/7/22 6/20/22 charlie 6/21/22 7/11/22 delta  The SolutionWe don’t have a way to do this with a Lookup table, but we can use a spreadsheet-style formula in our Formatter by Zapier app to construct an IF/AND statement that can handle this. The ZapTrigger: Schedule by Zapier (the user suggested this as a trigger)Action: Formatter by Zapier — format the date into Unix timeAction: Formatter by Zapier — spreadsheet-style formulaAction: Whatever else you want/need to addTriggerSchedule by Zapier: daily, weekly, etcThis cou

The Tools Zap Overview In Zapier In Pushcut Wrapping UpThe other day I tweeted about a Zap I’d built that notifies me via Pushcut when someone follows me on Twitter. At the time, the notification included the name and how many followers they have (this screenshot shows my improved version).Someone offered to pay me if I set up the workflow for them, and I said I’d write about it here instead :)The ToolsZapier (for the Zap, obviously) Twitter (to trigger on new followers) Pushcut (to notify us on mobile)Instead of Pushcut, you could send yourself a good ol’ text message or use something like Pushbullet).Zap OverviewTrigger: Twitter — New FollowerAction: Formatter (to give me a prettier date)Action: Pushcut — Send NotificationIn ZapierThe Zap is a short one (and could be even shorter if you don’t want/need the Formatter step).Trigger: Twitter — New FollowerAdd your own Twitter username here. What We Need from Mailchimp Building Our Zap Step 1 - Finding Our Mailchimp IDs Step 2 - Hash Our Email Address Step 3 - Configure our Webhook Testing the Webhook Questions SummaryZapier’s Add/Update Subscriber Action for Mailchimp already provides the ability to Update Interest Groups for a Subscriber. For most users - this is the preferred and easiest method for updating interest groups in Mailchimp. However - some users have a large number of Interest Categories in Mailchimp. When there are too many Interest Categories and Groups - the Zap might timeout when attempting to lookup the Interest Group by Category. The error we might see when this happens in a live Zap Run is:The app did not respond in-time. It may or may not have completed successfully.  In that case - we can still follow the steps below and use a Code Step and Webhooks by Zapier to update the Interest Groups on a Subscriber in Mailchimp. What We Need from MailchimpThere are 2 things we need from Mailchimp directly to m

Hi! It's Deb, from the Zapier blog. You might have seen some of our blog content on our social media channels (follow us, please!), and that's thanks to two things I love: (1) our amazing social media manager, Alex, and (2) automation.Alex saw that our social media audience really liked our blog content, but she had to manually check our editorial calendar in Airtable to see what was being published on any given day/week. Then she'd copy that over to her own publishing calendar in Coda so that it was on the record. It was time to build the robot.Alex had the idea to up a Zap that automatically sends all the info about a blog article to her Coda database whenever a piece is marked as "Done" in Airtable. And it only sends over the info she needs: title, URL, and suggested social copy (which luckily she rewrites most of the time because I think I'm funnier than I actually am). So she doesn’t even have to sift through a bunch of unnecessary information to get what she needs. No more manual u

This is one of those things that isn’t necessarily complex, but it’s easier to demonstrate with screenshots than it is to type out instructions. The ChallengeYou want to search for a record (contact, deal, lead, etc) in your app of choice, and if it’s found then you want to update it. If nothing is found, you’d like to create it.It sounds simple enough to those who are well-versed in Zapier, but it’s not always immediately obvious how to accomplish this. The SolutionI’ll tackle this in two parts. First, a brief explanation of what we’re going to be building. Next, I’ll get into the nitty gritty details for anyone who still needs it.The Short AnswerTrigger: Your app of choiceAction: Find/Create (insert your record type here)Filter: Only continue if the record is foundAction: Update (insert your record type here)IMPORTANT: In order to do this most efficiently, you’re going to need an action in your app that allows you to find an item and create one if it’s not found. Like these actions in
