Hi all, I recently released a new feature for DocuPotion that I thought some people here might be interested in. Wondering what folks do when they want to extract data from the browser or interact with a page in Chrome for their automations. I’ve tried the Zapier Chrome Extension, but it only lets you create fields that the user would have to fill in when running an automation, rather than scraping the page itself to prefill that. Seems like its basically just a button and not really interacting with the page. Is there another way to do it?I’ve been building with PixieBrix that works alongside Zapier. The failure mode nobody talks about isn't the red error in your task history. It's the green checkmark on a Zap that ran perfectly and did exactly the wrong thing.A filter lets through a record it shouldn't. A field maps to the right place with the wrong value. A formatter strips a character that breaks everything downstream. Zapier did its job. Spent way too long debugging this recently so figured I'd write it up properly.If you're building a Zap that posts images to Instagram - especially AI generated ones - you've probably hit this wall:Instagram app does not accept file data. It needs a direct public URL ending in .jpg or .png. Not a redirect link. Not a share link. A direct file URL.This trips people up in a few different ways:OpenAI image URLs expire in an hourIf you're generating images with DALL-E and passing that URL straight to Instagram, it works - until there's any delay in the workflow. A human approval step, a filter, a wait - anything that adds time breaks it. If you've been using Imgur or imgbb inside Zapier, you know the drill.Set up an HTTP action, dig through the API docs, figure out the right endpoint, parse the response to extract the URL, and then hope the URL format actually works with whatever app is receiving it. Half the time it doesn't - wrong headers, redirect URLs, or rate limits you didn't know existed.Google Drive share links aren't much better. If you use Slack as a notification hub for your automations, you've probably run into the formatting problem: you pass in standard markdown and it comes out looking mangled. If one of your Zapier step generates a file, but the next step expects a public file URL, you may need a way to upload this file on a server.The usual answer is Google Drive, but their URLs are not accepted by a lot of apps, and it requires some manual change in URL structure for it to work.Another great option is S3. I previously had this running through Twilio ↔ Zapier ↔ Slack, which worked but added unnecessary complexity and another service to maintain. Notion's AI Meeting Notes are fantastic, but there's a catch: the public REST API doesn't (yet) support reading content from the Meeting Notes block type, which means the native Zapier integration can’t access it either. If you try to retrieve a meeting note page via Zapier's standard Notion integration, you get the page metadata but not the actual transcript or summary. It’s always bugged me that Notion’s API (and, by extension, its Zapier integration) didn’t support applying a template to a page in a database. You go to all the work of creating detailed templates for your databases, but then can’t use them in automations.It’s still not supported yet in the Zapier integration, but templates are now exposed in Notion’s API. I learned about it here.In the meantime, I’ve created a simple Custom Action to apply a template to an existing page - the code is below if you want to copy. It’s always bugged me that Notion’s official Zapier integration doesn’t provide a way to retrieve someone’s user ID using their email address. You can only retrieve a user by their ID, but often, all you have is their email address.The reason for this is probably that Notion’s API doesn’t directly support retrieval of a user by their email address; you can only either list all users, or retrieve a single user by their ID.Fortunately, Custom Actions provides a workaround, since it can combine API calls with light filtering to pull this off in a single action. Hello,I’ve been experimenting with the “Always run” option since Zapier introduced sequential Path execution, and noticed that previous branch outputs aren’t available in the “Always run” branch. Here’s a workaround I found useful.Use the Storage action to temporarily save data for later use. The challenge is that Storage is shared across all Zaps, which can cause concurrency issues. To avoid this, use the Zap Run ID as the storage key.Since Storage keys are limited to 32 characters and Run IDs have 36 (including hyphens), you can shorten them using a Formatter step to fit the limit. In each branch: Add a Storage action with event “Set child value.” Use the Formatter result as the key and store any needed values as children.  In the “Always run” branch: Add a Storage action with “Get value.” Pass the same key to retrieve all saved child values.  In next steps you can retrieve those values.IMPORTANT NOTE: When referencing them later, use the outputs that are preceded by the word “Va
