Question

Can I use Zapier to automate folder and file naming in SharePoint based on data from monday.com?

We are trying to make a lot of our business processes autonomous, so far we have Zapier pulling information from Monday.com and then creating a folder in Microsoft SharePoint with the same name. We have been trying to also have a “Template” folder copied into the newly created folder and have it rename specific files in that Template folder to the name conventions from Monday.com. We are also wanting to know if we could have fields from the Monday.com Items update fields in a Word or Excel doc within that newly created file.

I just wanted to ask the question and see if what we are trying to achieve is even possible as I’m quite new to AI automation and from what it seems we can have these processes setup to manually trigger but it could not be setup to automate when new folders/files are created as the functionality is just not quite there yet.

I would appreciate any advice or if you could just let us know if it’s something we can achieve, thank you so much for your help in advance.

Hi @SJLconsulting

You would have to approach it a bit differently.

The idea would be to create Zap step logic that recreates the desired folder structure, rather than copying a Folder with all the subfolders and files.

Then you would have logic that creates new files from templates or copies existing files into the specific folders.

Hi Troy,

What Zap would be best suited for re-creating the folders structure? And also to copy existing files into specific folders?

Thanks for that information on autopopulating the templates, I will use that and transfer it to Sharepoint if possible.

You would have to use the available Zap app triggers/actions and configure the desired logic in the Zap steps.

e.g. SharePoint: https://zapier.com/apps/sharepoint/integrations#triggers-and-actions

Zap apps can be searched here: https://zapier.com/apps
