Question

Slack messages with file attachments always sent as Zapier bot (even with "Send as Bot?" turned off)

I'm trying to send messages to Slack via Zapier with "Send as Bot?" turned off, so the messages appear under my own name. This works fine for regular text messages. However, when I attach a file to the message, it always gets sent by the Zapier bot — even with "Send as Bot?" disabled.

I found a workaround in another thread, suggesting to send two separate messages: one without the file and one replying to the message with the file attachment. However, the reply still gets sent by the Zapier bot, not under my own name.

Is there any way to send Slack messages with file attachments under my own name, not as the Zapier bot? Or is this a bug?

Would love to hear if anyone has found a solution!

Hi @nicknijland,

Welcome to the Community.

Due to Slack's API limitations, Zapier can't send Slack messages with file attachments under your own name. All attachments are sent as the Zapier bot, regardless of settings. You can request this feature from Slack or Zapier support, but there's no workaround.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions or need further assistance.
