I'm in the midst of setting up an automation that might involve numerous paths. I've heard there's a limit to how many paths one can create in a single Zap. Could someone clarify this for me? If there's indeed a restriction, what are the alternatives to handle more complex branching logic?

Hi @Henry Pieterson,

Welcome to the Community.

Zapier allows up to 100 paths in a single Zap, each with its conditions and actions. If your automation exceeds this limit, consider using multiple Zaps triggered via the "Zapier Manager" app, applying filters and conditions within paths, or leveraging "Code by Zapier" for complex logic. Webhooks can also help manage branching logic externally. To optimize, review your setup for redundancies, combine conditions where possible, and simplify paths. For further guidance, Zapier's support and community forums are valuable resources.

I hope this answers your question and helps you set up your automation. If you have any more queries, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi there, @Henry Pieterson 👋

Just to add to Jammer’s reply—you can add up to 10 paths in a path group and you can nest paths up to 3 levels deep. But the overall Zap is limited to 100 steps in total:

You can learn more about Paths here: Add branching logic to Zaps with paths.

If you’re likely to exceed those limits, you could consider splitting the logic across multiple Zaps. For example, have Zaps that share the same trigger event, but only one Zap (and its relevant paths) would continue based on the specific conditions being met. Alternatively, as Jammer mentioned, using a Code by Zapier action may help to streamline the logic, but depends on what your workflow looks like.

Hope that helps. If it answers your question, please mark it as the best answer. And if you run into any issues or have more questions about paths, just let us know! 🙂
