How to pull useful test records in Zapier

In another thread, it’s stated that Zapier will only pull in the “last 3” records for testing purposes, but in my case, the last 3 records are useless, as they wouldn’t get past the filter step. I need a way to pull records that are useful for testing. Thanks!

Hi @WiseWolf108

The trick is to do this:

  1. Create a Zap with a Filter as Zap step 2 with a condition that will never pass
  2. Turn the Zap ON
  3. Test the Zap to produce a live Zap Run
  4. Go to the Zap Run history
  5. Select the Zap Run
  6. Use the [...] button to choose the option: Use as test record
  7. Edit the Zap
  8. Go to the Zap trigger step TEST tab
  9. Choose the Zap Run record now available
  10. Configure the Zap
  11. Publish the Zap

Hey @WiseWolf108,

Try to use previous Zap runs as test records- https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/35632951078029-Use-previous-Zap-runs-as-trigger-test-records. Otherwise you would have to submit some test records so it shows up in Zapier. Hope it helps!
