How do I manually trigger Zaps from Firefox without using the Chrome extension?

Is there some way to manually trigger a zap from a webpage I don’t control, passing the full URL to the zap? I.e, if I’m on “example.com/view?something” I want to be able to initiate a zap, passing “example.com/view?something” as a parameter.

Caverats:

  1. I’m using Firefox. I understand the Chrome extension might enable this, but that is not an option.
  2. I want to be able to easily trigger more than one zap

The first solution that occurred to me is to set up Email by Zapier and use the “Share” option from the FF tab context menu, which will send an email with the URL in the body, but I think the only way to differentiate zaps would be by manually adding a keyword to the email subject (which requires memorizing a list).

It seems the likely most flexible path would be writing a custom Firefox extension, but I’m wondering if there’s an easier way.

Hi @bridgman

Good question.

You would need some sort of workaround to use Firefox.

e.g. Save bookmark to some add-on/extensions that has a Zap app.

Or use the Zapier Chrome Extension: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/zapier/ngghlnfmdgnpegcmbpgehkbhkhkbkjpj?pli=1

Thank you, but I specifically said I can’t use Chrome, and bookmarking a page just to get a zap to fire seems no less clunky than using “Share tab” and would not solve the problem of not having a good way to specify which zap to activate.

Maybe there’s another approach. I’m to extend my CRM so that when I’m on a particular client record (identified by the URL) I can manually trigger any of several specific zaps, passing the URL (which will let me access the client record from within the zap). I don’t control the CRM so I can’t embed a control in the page.

You can try asking ChatGPT for help with creating a Firefox Add-On.
