How do I get my ChatGPT AI Assistant to read the contents of a Google Docs file?

How do I get my ChatGPT AI Assistant to read the contents of a Google Docs file? Currently I get the error message that ChatGPT cannot directly access files from external links.

The file is publicly available. The model used is gpt-4-1106-preview. The message to ChatGPT is to “please summarise the meeting from the file” + the File: (Exists but not shown) data.

Any ideas as to where I’m going wrong? Thank you!

Hi @Camzicle

Try this Zap action: Files - Text from File

Thank you! I got the full HTML using Text from File + the Embed link from the Google Doc, however upon trying to use Zapier Formatter to remove HTML tags, I get the error that Google DocsJavaScript isn't enabled in my browser. It is enabled, however, and clearing my cache didn’t help.

Alternatively, is there another input data I can use that doesn’t need formatting? Using the File source returns gibberish (see second image below).

@Camzicle

You may need to try this workaround instead of the Files step.
