Zapier has an integration with Stripe (a payment processor) where a business can send an API call to Zapier, and Zapier forwards it to Stripe.

We are Forte (also a payment processor) and we have a potential partner that wants the same thing with us.

Who builds that integration, Zapier or Forte?

Forte’s current integration looks like this:

Merchant → Forte → Zapier → Merchant

Trigger events available:

Stripe’s current integration looks like this:

Merchant → Zapier → Stripe → Stripe replies to either merchant or Zapier

Any assistance would be appreciated!!

Hi Troy.

Thanks for the link, but I don’t think that is what I need.

We have an integration to Zapier now. One of our customers creates a payment or a customer in our platform, we send a webhook to Zapier, and Zapier forwards the webhook to an app such as Quickbooks on behalf of our customer.

In this new, Stripe-like scenario, one of our merchants (called Mighty Networks), would send a payment to Zapier, and Zapier sends it to us for processing.

It’s the opposite of what I believe is Zapier’s normal flow.

The trigger would be Mighty Networks sending a payment to Zapier.

The action would be Zapier forwarding the payment to us.

Maybe it is Mighty Networks that builds the Zap?

Most Zap apps are created and developer by the app developer using the Zapier Developer Platform, so probably best to try the app’s support for guidance about their Zap app integration.

Thanks Troy.

My issue seems to be there is just not much discussion in the Zapier dev docs, or on the Zapier website about taking payments, i.e. integrating to a payments processor. That’s different, I believe, than integrating to an app like Quickbooks or Salesforce.

That’s what makes me think the Stripe integration is out-of-the-ordinary, and was probably built by the Zapier team.

In the 6000 apps Zapier talks to, I see only 2 payment processors - CSG Forte and Stripe.

I appreciate your help. I’ve got a ticket with Zapier support to see what they say.

Thanks!

@Troy Tessalone

Whoa! Excellent. Thanks for that.

Several of those are just the payments piece of the CRM app… Like Zoho Billing, Chargify and Lawpay. They are not the actual processor or the gateway processor.

All good though. That gives me some hope. I’ll dig into those and see what I can see.

Custom integrations can always be created using these Zap apps:
