I am zaping in an order from my shopify store to my suppliers.
I do not see the cost of the products I have sold. i have reached out to shopify to understand if this is possible. I wanted to reach out here to the community to see if anyone has had any knowledge of being able to call/ pull product data from the shopify API.
Re: The second article, is saying to use the inventory as a place to put the cost of my item and then pull that information through Zapier? Please correct me if I’m missing this.
If I’m correct, What do you recommend listing it under? Size, style, color, etc? Then next to it ad the cost of my product?
Hey @oshaugry, hope you’re well, I just wanted to check in here!
Were you able to get things working with the info from Troy, or can we still help out here with more info?

Hi William,
Troy was super helpful, but I do not understand where or what to do. i really need to have my handheld with this when it comes to being able to reference the item cost each time a new sale is generated.
Help is welcome. Video is preferred. Also happy to jump on a video call.
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi @oshaugry!
Thanks for giving us an update on how things are going. Could you perhaps go back to the beginning and explain what you’re trying to do? I know that you want to send information of your Shopify orders to your supplier and that you aren’t seeing the cost of the item. Which Shopify trigger were you using in your Zap? And which actions? And can I double check if you mean the price of the item or the cost? That will give us a better idea of if this is something that you can do with Zapier or if you’ll need to use the Shopify API. Thanks!
Yes happy to give some context.
When an order is placed I would like to send the cost of those items or my (COGS) and send that information to my supplier in their shopify store.
So it would like something like this. James places and order on my site for product ABC. His order number is 001. James Paid $100 for Product ABD in Order 001. The cost of product ABC is $50.
I would like to be able to pull that information ($50) through my shopify store and send that information into my suppliers shopify store.
I currently am able to pass through orders from my shopify store to my suppliers, but I am unable to extract the COGS for my products.
Currently I’m using the Shopify order triggers so when an order is placed in my store + the order contains products from that specific supplier, the order currently passes through to my supplier’s shopify store with the entire TOTAL order amount. This throws off our accounts payable with our supplier so…. every time there is an order that comes through my site for this specific supplier, I have to log into the suppliers shopify store, duplicate the order and manually edit the amount of that order to reflect the COGS for the products purchased.
I hope that gives some more clarity. I explained it as thoroughly as possible to give you an idea of exactly what I’m trying to do.
Thanks so much for the breakdown @oshaugry, that’s super helpful!
The new paid order Shopify trigger doesn’t currently pass cost of goods, but we do have a feature request for that addition. I’ve added you as an interested user on that feature request, which lets the team know how many users are interested in the addition and also means that we’ll email you when we have an update.
In the meantime, it looks like the only way to get the cost of goods would be by calling the Shopify API using a webhook (as @Troy Tessalone described above). That’s a really advanced set up so I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have experience of working with code and/or webhooks. If you need something like that building, you could ask in the Hire a Pro category

I have the exact same need. Please let us know when is this updated.
Thank you,

Thanks for reaching out, @arevilla! Of course, I’ve got your vote added to that feature request. We’ll be sure to send you an email and keep this thread updated as soon as we know more.
