Hello,

I want to Update a Database Item in notion. First, I need to find that item. We have an ID property on the database. This should be a pretty obvious one to be able to search by, as these are guaranteed to be unique across the database, but for some reason it’s not included in the fields that I’m allowed to search by in the Find a Database Item action. I can only search by date ranges and text/number fields. Can the ability to search by ID type properties please be added?

Thanks!

Hi @knowlesc

If you already have the Notion Item ID, then why do you need to use a Find Item step?

Zap action: Notion - Update Item

  • Item: ID of the Item

Hi @Troy Tessalone - I am talking about an ID property in the DB, not the page ID (which is a UUID). Update Database Item requires either a static DB item, a UUID, or an item from a previous search step, as far as I can tell.

I can't see all fields in my Zap

Not all Notion property types are supported in Zapier.
The following property types are not supported:
  • Files and media
  • Formulas
  • Relations
  • Rollups
  • Status
These property types will not appear in your triggers or actions.

Hey @Troy Tessalone - correct, I am requesting for ID properties to be added as they are unique to pages. When finding an item, you can use any text or number property, but IDs should be a standard way of finding an item. If there is a better place to request a feature, please let me know.

Feature requests can be submitted via a ticket to Zapier Support to be logged for future consideration: https://zapier.com/app/get-help

As a possible workaround, you can explore the Notion API to see if that supports the desired search functionality.

NOTE: Most Zap app integrations are created and managed by the app developer using the Zapier Developer Platform.

Needing this exact same thing. Why would it not be able to read the most direct identifier within a database??
