Question

Zaps unable to add emails/threads to Streak CRM

Hi everyone!

I’m new to Zapier so I’m hoping more advanced users might have an answer to this.

We use Streak CRM natively in Gmail to manage our contacts. I am trying to manage an inbound sales pipeline where I receive multiple requests every day for nearly 30 products. Though I’m able to keep up with requests, I am struggling to tag each email with a new Streak box as it comes in.

I’m looking to completely automate the process of creating a box and tagging an incoming email to that box. I made a Zap to make new Streak box per incoming email that would have the same name as the email subject line. It works perfectly.

However, Streak/Gmail/Zapier doesn’t actually add the email or thread to the new box, so I still have to go in manually and add the email to the box that was just created. I can’t figure out how to do the second part of this task with any of the free or paid features. The closest I was able to get with a custom command was automatically adding any incoming email to one (1) specific box,  but not the new box that Zapier created just for that email.

What can I do? Is there a way I can create a new Zap that will add any email with the subject line that is exactly the same as a box’s name to that particular box?

Thanks!

Hi @scrum-m4aster

I’m assuming you’re starting this Zap with a trigger based on Gmail receiving a new email that matches a criteria. Please correct me if I’m wrong on that!

In the “create new box” step, are you populating the “thread ID” from the Gmail Trigger?

Let me know more details or questions! (A screenshot of your Zap steps/configuration always helps too.)

Hi there, @scrum-m4aster! 👋

Were you able to give Mistryer’s suggestion a try? If not, adding the Thread ID field from the Gmail trigger into the GmailThreadID field on the Create New Box action could well be the missing piece here. That should help Streak associate the email thread with the new box automatically.

Keep us posted on how you’re getting on—want to make sure you’re all set! 🙂
