Question

Zapier incorrectly thinks I'm using a "live mode" Stripe Key to create a checkout session?

I am 100% sure I have connected Zapier to Stripe with my test key. I re-connected several times. Deleted the connection, and then re-established it. I ONLY have used the test key. I am in “test mode” on the Stripe Dashboard. Yet… when I try to create a new checkout session, I’m getting this error:

Failed to create a checkout_session in Stripe

The app returned "No such price: 'price_1SvkZ9EDgJ6Mypz3FIt9xd1J'; a similar object exists in test mode, but a live mode key was used to make this request.".

What in the world am I doing wrong here? How do I fix this? Note the Price ID is coming to Zapier from Airtable, if that makes any difference.

Hello @christopherclark

This error means Zapier is still sending the request with a live Stripe key, even though you’re working in test mode.

A few quick checks:

Make sure the Price IDs in Airtable were created in test mode. Price IDs are mode specific, and a test price will fail if a live key is used anywhere in the Zap.

In the Stripe action step, reselect the Stripe account in the Account field. Zaps can retain a previously selected live connection even after reconnecting.

Set the Price ID field to Use a Custom Value instead of picking from the dropdown. Dropdowns can cache live mode prices.

For a quick test, paste a known test mode Price ID directly into the step. If that works, the issue is the Airtable value or mixed mode data.

Once everything is test to test, the error should go away.
