Has anyone encountered errors while using AI with Zapier for “Analyze & Return Data”?

I’m using it for a zap to extract data from a pdf and create a row in google sheets, the data it’s extracting is inaccurate.

Please give any suggestions on how to fix this!

Hi @zapgirl23

Help us have more context by posting screenshots showing how your Zap steps are outlined and configure in EDIT mode with the field mappings.

Hey Tony, thanks for replying! Let me know if this is enough context.

So when I was testing this block, the info it extracted from the pdf was incorrect.

@zapgirl23

Screenshot shows only the file Title is mapped into the prompt.

Also, not sure the AI Zap app supports file links or file objects.

Hey @JammerS

It didn’t help fix my issue. Are you able to support with this?

Hi @zapgirl23, I hope you're doing well!

It seems you'll want to extract the data from your Google Drive PDF file using an app in order to be able to map that data into your AI by Zapier step.

Here’s an index of Document app integrations on Zapier:

Hope this helps 😊

Hi! I was actually having this problem too. Similar setup.

trigger: When a new file is added to a specific folder in Google Drive
Action: Zapier AI Analyze and Return Data
Action: Create Google Sheets Row (with appropriate fields matched)

So it works, yet it doesn’t.

It adds the date modifed ✓, file name  ✓, and a summary❓. However, the summary is completely made up
For instance, I added the most recent report from Microsoft on AI usage. It gave me a summary on climate change. I added a report on Ai in Education, it gave me a summary on climate change. Complete nonsense, as I don’t have any reports on climate change.

Telling me about an index of Document integrations doesn’t really help. I just need to know if this Zap can actually work or if it’s going to continue to make things up.

Crazy AI Summaries that do not match files

Hi @MichelleL,

The Zapier AI Analyze and Return Data action seems to be generating inaccurate summaries, likely due to file format or content issues. The AI works best with plain text, so try converting files like PDFs or Word docs to text and removing any unrelated content. If the problem persists, consider testing other AI actions within Zapier for better results.
