Hello. I keep getting email alert that some of my Zaps aren’t working because the “subscriber email is missing.”

When I go into fix it it says:

When I click on “Help me Fix it” it looks like the email output from the reformatter has an error because its just quotes:

But when I click on “Edit Zap” to fix it when it actually opens (with changing NOTHING) its always “correct” and there IS the correct email/output in that field. So there is actually nothing to fix?!?! How can I get this fixed so it doesn’t error out and operates as intended?!?

And for additional context, earlier in the Zap the email address from the Google Calendar is extracted:

And the email IS extracted correctly:

So there is no error to fix, but it is impacting all of my Zaps with the extracted email address formatting step.

Hi @ashland

If you Zap Run history details that shows the DATA IN/OUT for each step you can see the Formatter step did not extract an email address, thus why the Mailchimp step resulted in an error.

The fix is to add a condition to the Path Filter step to check the Formatter step value exists.

Hi @ashland,

I just came across your post here and wanted to check in here to see how you’re getting on. Were you able to follow Troy’s suggestion here?

Please do let us know if you’re still in need of some help on this at all - happy to assist further! 🤗

Kinda. I don’t think the resolution proposed was exactly what I was looking for because the email data IS there so the lack of email isn’t causing it, which is why its confusing. However, using Troy’s response as inspiration I added a “filter” step at step 2 to make sure it was using “my actual data” because when I look at it, it seemed to have issues when it was trying to run a test data or something….which naturally wasn’t set up the same so it was having issues.

I will give it a day or two to see if that resolved it.

Hi @ashland,

Just keep us posted so we can assist you further if needed. Thank you.

Bad news, got errors on all of them again this morning so we still need a solution.

However, the email data IS there and when I go through to “fix” it there is never anything wrong. How can I get these to stop erroring out?

@ashland

For live Zap Runs, you can check the DATA IN/OUT for each step to help you trace the data flow and troubleshoot: https://zapier.com/app/history/

You can get the Zap Runs to stop resulting in errors by adding a Filter step AFTER Zap step 4.

If the Zap step 4 Formatter does not return an extracted email address from the GCal Description field value, then following Zap steps will error, so you need to check that Zap step 4 Formatter returns an email address from the GCal Description field value.

Great - just implemented/added to my Zaps. Stay tuned :) #fingerscrossed
