Hi Team,

We need to send specific products data based on their category to google sheet.

However when we check in the trigger “Line Item in an Order in WooCommerce”
the product category is empty even though the category is present for the product.

i have used find product for the next step but if the category is not displayed how will it fetch?

Good question.

Try searching for the category value instead.

Try removing the search value and instead scroll to the variable as there may be nested variables within that contain the actual value.

Can you show a screenshot without any search value and scrolled to the category data point?

See if that returns the Categories.

Sorry to hear the product category isn’t coming through when using that Line Item in an Order trigger. According to WooCommerce’s documentation (here: https://docs.om4.io/woocommerce-zapier/usage/#find-steps) adding a Find Product action is necessary in order to get the product’s category. 

Can you please share a screenshot of all the fields that are output when you test that Find Product action? That’ll help us to get a bit more context on what you’re seeing in the Zap. Please remove/hide any private information from the screenshot before sharing (like names, emails, addresses etc.).

Hi, I also don’t see the product category field. I do see it with the Find Product action, but this means it will cost an extra task for the Zap every time it is triggered just to find out information that should be part of the Trigger data.

Unfortunately, the “Find Product” action is essential to add if you want to pull the product category field. However, we have an existing feature request to return the product category in the trigger data.

I have added you and @jerry_123 to the open feature request. That does a few things:

  • Bring this to the attention of the integration developers
  • Help track interest in this feature being implemented
  • Allows us to notify you via email if this feature becomes available in the future

While I don't have an ETA on when this feature might be implemented, we will notify you via email if it is!

You need to add the category ID, not the product name. Hope that helps.
