Why Does the Zapier Dropdown Hide Attachments Unless I Search for Them?

I’m using Zapier to fetch emails with attachments (e.g., from Gmail’s “New Email Matching Search” trigger). In my action step, when I type / to insert data from the previous step, the dropdown only shows “Attachment 1” even though the email has two attachments. However, if I search for “attachment” in the dropdown, both “Attachment 1” and “Attachment 2” appear.

  • Screenshot 1: Here’s what I see when I type /—only “Attachment 1” shows up.

  • Screenshot 2: Here’s what I see after searching “attachment”—both attachments are listed.

Why does the dropdown hide “Attachment 2” initially? How can I make it show all attachments without needing to search every time? I’ve tested with an email containing two attachments, and the trigger output includes both, but the UI doesn’t reflect this unless I search. Is this a sample data issue or a UI limitation? Any workarounds to make all fields visible by default?

Hi @KushalJain101

Perhaps try using this Zap trigger: Gmail - New Attachment

Hey there, @KushalJain101 👋

Just wanted to check how you’re getting on—did switching to the New Attachment trigger Troy suggested (that triggers for each individual attachment separately) work better for your needs here?

Keen to make sure you’ve got everything sorted, so please keep us updated on how it went! 🙂
