Does anyone know if or when Chatgpt 5 will be useable through zapier chatbots? I see it on the dropdown menu but get an error when trying to use it.

Hi @Mikef12306 👋 Welcome to the Zapier Community!

I’d recommend reaching out to our support team and opening a ticket for us to be able to investigate what could be going wrong:

Let me know if you have any further questions. I'll be glad to lend a hand!

Wishing you a great day😊

Thanks. I contacted them, but they weren’t of much help. It should be very easy for them to replicate this issue. They just need to select chatgpt 5 on any chatbot and it will come up with an error when talking to it.

Yeah, I agree with you, Mike. We've been waiting for weeks to fix their problems, haven't we?

As a loyal customer, I would wish not to create tickets for this common problem, the Zapier support team should fix this problem ASAP! 🙏 #Customer #Support #Problem #Zapier #Team

Hi @Mikef12306 and @Dream Up 👋

Sorry you’ve both been having issues using ChatGPT. I checked on the ticket @Mikef12306 had open with our Support team about this and it appears the errors were due to their OpenAI account not being verified.

Sharing the details from their reply here in case it’s helpful for others:

We've been working with OpenAI on this and have discovered requests are failing in some cases because the account has not been verified on the OpenAI side. For context:

When using your own API key, you might now see this warning in Zapier Chatbots when GPT-5 is selected.

OpenAI Organization Verification Required: Streaming GPT-5 and GPT-5-mini models requires your OpenAI organization to be verified. Please ensure your organization is verified before using these models, or responses may fail to work properly. To verify, visit your OpenAI Organization Settings, and select "Verify Organization".

That said, it seems that there was then issues with timeouts when using ChatGPT 5. In case it’s helpful, here was Support’s reply regarding the timesouts:

We're aware of GPT-5's slower response time and we're looking into potential improvements there. In the meantime I can only suggest reducing the reasoning effort and setting priority. If you're still running into timeouts reliably, we suggest reverting to GPT-4o for the time being.

@Dream Up, totally understand the frustration here, and I’ve shared your comments here with the team to help ensure we do better in the future.

That said, can you try verifying your organisation within OpenAI to see if that then allows you to use ChatGPT 5 in with your chatbot?

Keep us posted on how it goes, want to make sure this gets sorted.
