Hi everyone,

I'm trying to create a public Zap Template but getting this error:

Failed to create Zap template
Uses an invite-only app., uses a restricted app.

My Zap uses the following apps:

  • Gmail (Trigger)

  • AI by Zapier (for email classification)

  • Google Tasks

  • Google Calendar

  • Paths by Zapier

The Zap works perfectly in my account.
However, when I try to convert it into a template, it fails with the restricted app error.

I suspect AI by Zapier might be the issue.

My questions:

  1. Is AI by Zapier allowed in public templates?

Would really appreciate guidance from the Zapier team or anyone who has successfully published AI-based templates.

Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone 👋

Thanks for the help! The issue is now resolved.

The problem was with Paths by Zapier. it was causing the restriction while creating the public Zap Template. After removing it, I was able to create the template successfully.

Appreciate the guidance! 🙌

Hi @nidhi_2410

You may have to do process of elimination to determine which apps are causing the restriction.

Likely these:

  • Paths
  • AI by Zapier

Help link for sharing Zap Templates:

https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8496292155405-Share-a-template-of-your-Zap

Limitations

  • Zap templates include all steps and their app and app event selections.
    • They do not include any values you've entered into fields.
  • If you turn off sharing for a Zap, anyone who already had the link will see a message informing them that sharing has been disabled for the Zap, with options to browse other Zap ideas or create their own Zap.
  • Zaps with code steps, private apps, legacy apps, legacy triggers, or legacy actions cannot be shared as copies.
  • Accounts on a Free Legacy plan can’t share Zaps that use Webhooks by Zapier.
  • By default, shared Zaps are visible through their sharing link, and will appear on pages related to the apps used in the Zap.
    • Your connected accounts, Zap history and data will not be shared.
If you have any feedback on sharing a copy of your Zap, or need to report a shared Zap that contains spam or malicious content, contact Zapier support.

Hey there @nidhi_2410 👋 Were you able to narrow down which app was preventing the Zap template from being created? Were any of the apps using an older/legacy version?

Let us know if it’s still not working, want to make sure you're all set! 🙂

That’s great news @nidhi_2410! 🎉 Really appreciate you sharing what sorted it. Thanks for helping out here @Troy Tessalone 🤗

I checked our existing help guide on sharing a template of a Zap and Paths by Zapier isn’t listed as one of the apps that can't be included, so I've submitted an internal request to get the guide updated.

Hope you both have a great weekend!
