I am trying to start a conversation in a Zap with the ChatGPT (OpenAI) Integration. However, when testing I am getting the following error:

Failed to create a conversation in ChatGPT (OpenAI)

'NoneType' object has no attribute 'name'

Maybe I am missing a simple element, but I can't figure out the issue.

My settings are as follows:

Hi @dvdb079

Check on this: The mapped File variable for “Report” has no data for the selected example from Step 2.

Hi @Troy Tessalone,

Thank you for your quick reply! it's weird that it says no data, as the report can be read by the AI by Zapier tool. Anyway, this does indeed solve the issue. 😀

Wow! Thank you for confirming that Troy’s resolution got the Zap running. This will significantly help our Community members to have as a reference for the same issue.

@JammerS

  • Double-check all required fields in the "Create Conversation" step
  • Make sure the model or assistant ID is correctly selected
  • Avoid blank/missing inputs — even optional ones can trigger this sometimes
  • Use alternative bot apps from happymod appstore

Hi @jionkilio_mictik,

Thanks for your suggestions on troubleshooting the "Create Conversation" step in Zapier. Be sure all required fields are filled, verify the correct model or assistant ID, and avoid leaving optional fields blank, as they can still affect functionality. If you're exploring third-party bot apps, confirm they're Zapier-compatible and meet security standards.
