Hey everyone,

I run a large Slack community and have a Zap set up to automatically send a Direct Message to new joiners.

Everything worked fine before, but recently the Slack step keeps failing with this error:

Error from Slack: channel_not_found

Here’s what I’ve already checked:

  • The Slack connection is active

  • The user definitely exists and can be DMed manually

  • I’ve tried both @username and the user ID format

  • Reconnected the Slack app in Zapier

Still no luck — the Zap keeps erroring out.

Has anyone else run into this issue recently, or know if something changed in how Zapier handles Slack DMs?
Would love to hear if there’s a workaround or updated setup (permissions, scopes, or using Slack IDs differently).

Thanks!
Daniel

Hey Daniel,

Paul from the support team here happy to help!

It looks like this has been reported by another user also and we have a bug report open for our engineering team to further investigate this.

I have linked your profile to that issue report so we can let you know when this is resolved.

Sorry about the bother with this!

Thanks for letting me know Paul!
