I am looking to create a zap that triggered by SimpleTexting incoming message, however Zapier is not accessing the messages received and instead displays a “placeholder” record that does not exist in the SimpleTexting database. (Displayed in Article 1)

According to Simpletexting, “the message ID does not exist, because no message is actually sent or received.” and are created by Zapier for testing purposes.

My account is authenticated and connected -- confirmed by section 1 of Incoming message “configure” section. As you can see,  the page displays my account phone number.  (Displayed in Article 2)

I’ve exhausted the SimpleTexting support and they have confirmed that there are no issues on their end with the API.

Hi @andrew_offline

Some Zap apps only return dummy records in Zap trigger steps.

You should be able to configure the Zap action steps with the provided variables even though those have dummy values.

Then you can try turning the Zap ON, testing live, and checking your Zap Runs history details to see the DATA IN/OUT for each step to help you troubleshoot: https://zapier.com/app/history/
