Hey everyone,

I am using Zapier for the first time and could use some help!

I am trying to optimize Shopify Community by setting up a Zap that sends specific links containing certain keywords to a Slack group.

The idea is to:

  • Detect posts containing predefined keywords
  • Send those links to a Slack channel
  • Tag the person responsible for that keyword

However, when testing, the message in Slack appears blank, and the commands are not showing up as expected. Has anyone encountered this issue before or have any tips on how to fix it?

Your Zap is triggering but not sending the expected data to Slack. Check if Shopify posts capture the right content, ensure Slack message fields are mapped correctly, test with plain text instead of advanced formatting, and review Zapier Task History for errors. If the issue persists, re-test your trigger and action setup.

Regarding the triggers, they do fire correctly, but the links aren't coming through to Slack at all. One potential issue might be how I've set up the paths in Zapier. When selecting keywords, I'm only offered one "Title" option, yet the Slack messages arrive empty, without the actual links.

I even posted a dummy question on Shopify Community to test this, and while the trigger activates, the Slack message still appears blank without any link.

Would you have time for a quick call, or perhaps suggest another solution? I'd really appreciate your help in getting this sorted out.

If your Slack message Zap isn't working correctly, check that the "Text" field in the "Send Channel Message" action is set up correctly with data from the trigger. If only one "Title" option appears, test your trigger to ensure it's pulling all necessary data. If the issue persists, try recreating the Zap to fix potential setup glitches.

Webhooks are a powerful way to connect apps that don't have native Zapier integrations, including sending data to Slack. Instead of using the Slack app, you can use the Webhooks by Zapier app with a POST request, entering your Slack webhook URL and message data. This setup is more advanced and may require familiarity with webhooks and APIs. You may contact Zapier support for additional assistance.
