Salesforce: lead to opportunity mapping triggering 'updated field on record' trigger

We are trying to automate appointment creation along with some auxiliary google services related to that appointment. The issue is or appears to be that when the updated field is updated as a lead and then that lead is converted to an opportunity the Zapp for the opportunity is triggered from the mapping from lead to opportunity
