Private Slack channel not triggering in Zapier

Hi Everyone!

I was creating a new Zap as a copy of one of my older Zaps, but I'm facing an issue in the first step. I want the Zap to trigger when a specific emoji (bug ticket) is added to a message in the private Slack channel (x-smgmt-eng-connect). However, during the test trigger, Zapier is pulling messages from the public Slack channel (flipcause-it-helpdesk) instead, which I don’t want to integrate.

I’ve tried multiple troubleshooting steps, including sending different messages, using different connections, reconnecting Slack, and reconfiguring the trigger, but nothing has worked. As a result, I'm unable to select messages from x-smgmt-eng-connect, preventing the other steps in the Zap from functioning correctly.

I had previously set up the same workflow successfully in an older Zap using the private Slack channel. After speaking with Zapier support, they confirmed that this functionality(private channel) was available in the previous version of Zapier.

Can you please help me resolve this issue?

Hi @Shikha Verma!

I took a look and I see you’ve chatted to our support team about this and they shared it’s because the "New Reaction Added" trigger only works for public channels. That’s correct, that trigger is limited to public channels and there isn’t currently a workaround to this. You would need to make the channel public for that trigger to work.

That said, they’ve added you to the existing feature request, so you’ll be updated if this feature is implemented in the future.
