No preview of the reply from ChatGPT when a review from Google My Business comes in.
Howdy folks,
I’m a little confused. Set up everything so that when a review comes in for a client it Zaps to ChatGPT for a reply. Test was successful and everything says it’s running, but when I tested myself nothing happens.
My first question for a human is: If this automation is working, shouldn’t I be able to see the conversation within ChatGPT?
Second: Any idea why it might night be showing up? It says it’s all linked correctly, but I’m getting crickets.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi @ZapMorris
Good question.
If this automation is working, shouldn’t I be able to see the conversation within ChatGPT?
No, you won’t see this thread in ChatGPT, as the ChatGPT Zap app integration uses the OpenAI API for Chat Completions, which is different than using ChatGPT.
Any idea why it might night be showing up? It says it’s all linked correctly, but I’m getting crickets.
The GMB New Review trigger is SCHEDULED, which means it can take from 1-15 minutes for the Zap to fire depending on your Zapier plan.
Thanks @Troy Tessalone So where might I be able to see the response that OpenAI generates? Do I have to add another Zap to email or something?
@ZapMorris
Please post screenshots with how your Zap steps are configured to give us more context, thanks.
Hey @Troy Tessalone See above and let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d need to see.
Hey there, @ZapMorris! Thanks for sharing those screenshots.
I saw you asked:
Do I have to add another Zap to email or something?
Is there another action following the Conversation in ChatGPT? The reason I ask is, if there isn’t you would only see the response under the Zap runs (in the Zap History) in the Data Out tab for the ChatGPT step.
If you’d like to view the reply elsewhere, or in a different app, you’re spot on. We’d need to create a third action - for example like Create Draft in GMail or Create Reply in Google My Business.
Depending on how you feel about the reply generated, I also wanted to share this blog post on creating prompts that may be useful.
I hope some of this helps! 🧡
@ZapMorris
When the Zap is ON, the ZapRun history detailed will show the DATA IN/OUT for each Zap step: https://zapier.com/app/history/
You’ll want to provide a properly structured prompt for ChatGPT.
The way the current variables are mapped from GMB will result in 1 concatenated garbled chunk of text.
That will likely result in bad responses from ChatGPT.
