Try to create a product entry in shopify by mapping to zapier table but it alwasy return error

Help us have more info by posting these screenshots:

  • how your Zap steps are outlined
  • how your Zap steps are configured in EDIT mode with the field mappings visible in the CONFIGURE tab
  • any encountered errors

Thanks for your reply. 

When I manually enter the product entry in Shopify. I want to fill out product entry like below, prices, compare-at price, cost per item, profit, SKU, Barcode, Weight (in the shipping field). 

However, when I create a product entry via zappier (using create Product variant field, this is the only field for the information I need), but it creates a product variant not product like i show above.

 

I have only one product, no option, no need to become a product variant, but i do not see other choices

 

I use the shopify workflow per below:

Can you post screenshots of the encountered error when testing the Zap step?

 

To create a Product Variant you need to map the ID of the Shopify Product.

That field mapping is not shown in your screenshots.

 

You need to first create a Shopify Product or find an existing Shopify Product before you add a new Product Variant.

NOTE: When creating a Product for the first time, it automatically create the default Product Variant.

I saw your post and wanted to check in—did you get a chance to try Troy’s suggestion?

We’re happy to dive deeper if you still need help.

My question is not encountering an error, but the product entry is missing SKU, weight. To fulfill this purpose, I create the product variant step, but it creates an extra variant instead of updating the existing product sku. 

Just “create product” does not have SKU and weight (shipping weight) field, so i created extra step “product variant”, but i would create extra product variant that i do not need.

Suppose you're trying to update existing product variants in Shopify via Zapier but are having issues with creating new variants instead. To avoid this, use the "Update Product Variant" action, not "Create Product Variant." You'll need the specific variant ID, which you can find in Shopify, and you can use the "Find Product Variant" action in your Zap to locate it by SKU or another identifier. If some fields (like weight) aren't directly editable, consider using metafields. Always test with sample data to ensure you're updating correctly. Check Shopify's API docs for extra help if needed.
