Subject: Issue with "Successful Sale in PayPal" Trigger on Zapier

Email Body:

Hello Zapier Team,

I am facing an issue with my Zap configured to capture successful sales on PayPal. The "Successful Sale in PayPal" trigger is not working as expected.

Here are the details of the problem:

  1. I am certain that I copied and pasted the webhook URL generated in rectangle 1 (trigger of my Zap) into the URL box on the IPN page of my PayPal.

  2. I also pasted the same webhook URL generated in rectangle 1 (trigger "Successful Sale in PayPal") when creating a webhook.

  3. To test my Zap, I created a sandbox seller account, generated a link/QR code, and pasted it on my website.

  4. I logged out of the seller account, logged into the buyer account, went to the site, and made a purchase. The purchase was correctly recorded in both the buyer and seller sandbox accounts, but the Zap did not detect the purchase.

  5. When I test in rectangle 1 of the Zap, I receive the message "No successful sale found. Create a successful sale in your account and test again."

  6. Additionally, in the "To" field of Email by Zapier, when I press "+", I cannot select option 1. "Successful Sale in PayPal".

I am very frustrated with this situation. I want to finish configuring this to upgrade my plan and start my automated sales. I need help with this and am awaiting a solution.

Thank you in advance for your attention and support.

Best regards, POSTVTECH

Hi @POSTVTECH, welcome to the Zapier community 👋

I appreciate the detailed breakdown of the issue.

If you are using a PayPal button or a PayPal shopping cart script then you might have trouble. These things override the default IPN URL you set on paypal.com.

The way to fix this is by following our "Multiple IPN" documentation here.

Here’s a great resource that should provide some further insights:

https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8495968056973-Common-Problems-with-PayPal

Regarding the Email by Zapier issue, it seems like the expected data isn’t being passed from the trigger. Once the successful sale is detected by the Zap, you should see options to map details like the buyer’s email address.

If the above information doesn’t help move you forward, I would encourage you to open a ticket with our support so we can take a look at what's going on in detail:

Hope this helps 😊
