Issue converting Manychat metadata to Stripe

Hello everyone,

I am trying to build a flow where a stripe payment triggers tagging a user in manychat. Unfortunately, because the email/name in stripe and manychat are likely different for the users I am unable to link the two platform and therefore can't tag the user.

The only thing I can think of is passing the manychat user ID through to stripe as metadata as part of the payment URL but I am unsure how to do this, would anyone be able to advise on this/the process? If anyone has any other ideas about how to link the two platforms that would be hugely appreciated too.

All the best & thanks for your help,

Will

Hi @willsola,

Welcome to the Community.

To connect Stripe and ManyChat via Zapier despite different usernames/emails, store the ManyChat User ID in a custom field, append it to the payment URL, and capture it as metadata in Stripe. Then, set up a Zap that triggers a new Stripe charge and tags the user in ManyChat using the stored User ID. Adjustments may be needed based on your payment system.

If you're still having difficulties or have other ideas for linking the two platforms, feel free to share them, and we can discuss them further.

I have tried everything and this doesn't work unfortunately @JammerS, I decided the best way to do this was to create a custom field in stripe and pass that to Zapier but it appears you don't support that either...

Hi @willsola,

Zapier does support custom fields, but the way they're handled can vary depending on the app. In the case of Stripe, custom fields are not inherently supported. We also saw your post about custom fields, and we added you to the list of interested users for the developer in Stripe to add them to their app via Zapier.
