Integrating ManyChat with Aweber through Zapier for email subscription

Hi,

I’ve been in touch with Aweber about the problem I’m experiencing.

I’ll paste at the bottom what they have suggested I do next..

Firstly, I've tried to go into as much detail below to give you an idea of what I'm trying to do.

If you need more info let me know.

So I have ManyChat set up on Instagram. When someone DM's me a trigger word I set up in a Calorie Calculator flow in Many Chat - this will trigger the zap - the person then has to give their email address in my Instagram DMs and this then subscribes them to Aweber and so I can start to build up an email list.

I am trying to copy a zap from a course I purchased - they use Bento as their email to set the 3 step Zap up. However,  I'm not seeing the same options as they are when they set up the Zap.

I'll list below exactly what I'm trying to do in Zapier to integrate AWEBER.

Step 1. Title - Trigger A Zap Event
Setup:
App: ManyChat
Trigger Event: "New Trigger A Zap Event"
Account: ManyChat - Ben Greenway (my account)
Configure: Event: LEAD CALC OPT IN (this is the calorie calculator automation flow)

Step 2. Title - Create Subscriber
Setup:
App: AWEBER
Action Event: Create Subscriber
Account: AWEBER (my account)
Configure: Email: This is asking where it's getting this email data from. I need to be able to select the option "user email" (I can't do this) and this means Zapier is going to use the email information imported from ManyChat and use that to create a subscriber
Event Name: Subscribe

Step 3. Title - Add Tag (Now by choosing Aweber I want to trigger the automation)
Setup:
App: AWEBER
Action Event: Add Tag (I don't have this option either)
Account: AWEBER
Configure: Email: User Email
Tag: LEAD: Calorie Calculator

By doing the final step it initiates the email flow.

I have been given a template of the above that I import into Zapier. All I need to do is change the email provider from Bento to Aweber. But when i do that I don't get the same options as the person recording the video does for it to work.

Can you help me with this please?

If Aweber is not compatible I'll have to cancel my subscription and go with an email provider that can integrate with Zapier.

**( This was Awebers response -

Thank you for clarifying. It seems to be less of a question of compatibility than which zap trigger/action should be used to replace the steps that would be accomplished with bento to provide you with the same trigger/action options.

It may be a good idea to reach. out to Zapier support for more information on what data would pass from your Instagram connections with Manychats into the AWeber. From what I can see the create subscriber action with aweber would be pulling the email information from Manychat. The user email information you would like instead may be available in one of the other AWeber actions in the Zap integrations. Because our resources on what Zap has available are limited, I would reach out to zapier for more information on what action would effectively replace bento in this scenario.)

Thanks

Ben

Hi @Ben Greenway,

Welcome to the Community.

The issue likely stems from differences in API capabilities between Bento and AWeber in Zapier. AWeber does not offer the same actions, such as "Add Tag," and the "User Email" field may not be available when creating a subscriber. To troubleshoot, ensure ManyChat is passing the email data correctly and check if tags can be added within the "Create Subscriber" action. If these steps don't resolve the issue, contacting AWeber support or considering a different email provider may be necessary.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or if there's anything else I can assist you with.
