Hi Zapier Community,

I'm working on a Zap that pulls in subtasks from Asana and sends them to Connecteam as sub-jobs. I've managed to retrieve and format the subtasks using a combination of "Split Text by Line" and "Line Itemizer" in Formatter by Zapier. The output looks correct and shows a list of subtask names.

However, when I hit the Connecteam step (Create Job With Sub-Jobs), I get the following error:

Required field "Title" (subJobTitle) is missing.

I've tried mapping the output from the Formatter step, and I can see the subtasks listed in the "Data Out" section, but it looks like they’re not coming through in the structure Connecteam needs.

If anyone has successfully passed multiple subtasks into Connecteam sub-jobs, or has insight into how exactly the line item format should be structured for Connecteam to recognize each one as a subJobTitle, I’d really appreciate your input!

Thanks in advance,

Hi @Stasik,

Welcome to the Community.

It looks like the issue with your Asana to Connecteam Zap is due to the subtask data not being formatted correctly for Connecteam's "subJobTitle" field, which likely expects an array of objects. Ensure each subtask is structured properly in the Formatter step and correctly mapped in the Connecteam step. If that doesn't work, consider using a custom POST request via "Webhooks by Zapier" to send the data in the required format. Sharing a screenshot of your setup can also help with more specific support.

I hope this helps, and we'll resolve this issue for you.

Hi Jammer,

Thanks for checking in.

I’m currently working with the team at Connecteam. They suggested using the formatter, and now the sub-tasks are properly formatted — I can see them listed on their own lines. However, the Connecteam integration still doesn’t generate sub-jobs and shows an error.

At this point, I suspect the sub-tasks are not being properly recognized as sub-jobs, which is why no sub-jobs are being created.

Let me know if you have any other ideas or if there’s something else I should adjust.

Thanks again,
Stan

Hi @Stasik,

Thank you for your detailed explanation, which suggests that the problem may stem from how sub-task data is transmitted to or interpreted by Connecteam. We recommend verifying that the Formatter step in the Zap is correctly set up to structure the sub-tasks in a format Connecteam can process. Also, contact Connecteam support to confirm the expected format. Once confirmed, you should test the Zap using the "Test & Continue" feature to ensure the data is being sent correctly.

We're here to help, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns.

Hi @Stasik,
