Hello.

I would like to create a zap but canva is now allowing what I need:

Cognito Forms: An agent (user) would go and submit a cognito forms request “Request Social Media”.

They would choose their name from a drop down list. They would input address, choose from drop down “Just Listed”, “Pending”, “Sold” or “Price Improvement”. They would also upload a picture in this cognito form.

Once submitted, Zapier would find the correct canva template and input those fields into the assigned fields: {{Property Address}}, {{Status}}, {{Property Image}} etc. This template would already have their picture and brokerage information, it would only need those fields input on the cognito form.

Once the template is updated with fields, it is then pushed out to my facebook where they can then share on their agent page.

The problem is all of my chatgpt and AI bots keep saying there is an option “create design from template” on zapier for canva, but this is not true. I have the professional account. How can I make this happen?

Hi @Niki1970

Try this Zap action: Canva - Create Design

Hi there, @Niki1970 👋

Have you had a chance to try out that Create Design action Troy suggested yet?

Keen to make sure you’re all set, so keep us posted on how it goes! 🙂

Hi! I have tried that create design several times. Problem is it doesn’t know which template to pull the information to. I’ve already created several design templates. One for each of my Realtors. Zapier isn’t asking me which template to create/complete or how it will know what information to pull in (from my cognito form) so I am having major trouble linking all of it into the template because I think it wants to create a new design and not fill an existing design with the information. I don’t know if that makes sense.

I have a cognito form setup: it has drop downs for agent’s name (so it knows which template to use), status of property- coming soon, new listing, pending, closed. It asks for the property address, and an image/file upload for front of property.

I am trying to link that form to zapier to canva so that it will create that design automatically with the information that is input into the cognito form. But the “create design from template” is not available to me from canva, even though I am on the professional account. Create design I don’t know will work. Below is an example of the template I’m trying to fill.

Hi @Niki1970,

Before we dig deeper into this, could you please send a screenshot of your Canva step? Please ensure that all of the fields are captured in the screenshot.

Please don't include personal information in the screenshot, or be sure blur out any personal information.

I'll be keeping an eye out for your response!

You’re right, @Niki1970! It looks like that Create Design action doesn’t allow you to populate the design with information in the way that you’re after, it just creates a new design. I see there’s a feature request for a “Create Design Autofill Job” type of action to be added to the Canva app. That sort of action would have the ability to populate design templates with different values so I’ve added your vote for that. I can’t make any promises around when that type of action might be added but we’ll be sure to let you know if it is!

In the meantime, I came across an alternative approach a while back which used a Canva API Request action to populate a design template with different values:

Hopefully that helps to point you in the right direction. If you run into any issues in setting up that API Request action do let us know—happy to lend a hand if you get stuck at any point!
