How to extract data from bank statements into an Accounting Excel spreadsheet

I can’t get to my 2nd step because when I run the test to find my document I get the following message:

Failed to find a file in OneDrive

Error from halted execution: Nothing could be found for the search.

Yet I click and choose the each folder until I get to my bank statement folder.  Then I input the name of the bank statement.  So I don’t know what I am doing wrong.  HELP!

Hi there @Pastor Scott,

Before we dig deeper into this, would you mind sharing a detailed screenshot of how your Zap is configured? Also, please share a screenshot of the OneDrive action step that shows all of its fields.

Please don't include personal information in the screenshot, or be sure blur out any personal information.

Thanks!

My question has now changed because I have figured out how to convert data from a pdf into an Excel spreadsheet.  My new question is:

Can Zap analyze my bank data in a spreadsheet and then put that into an Excel Profit and Loss spreadsheet?  How would I set that up in Zapier?

Thanks!

Hi @Pastor Scott,

It's great that you've converted your PDF data into an Excel spreadsheet. While Zapier can't analyze data, it can automate moving it between spreadsheets. By storing both Excel files in a supported cloud service, you can create a Zap that triggers when new data is added to your bank spreadsheet and sends it to your Profit and Loss spreadsheet. For more complex analysis like categorizing or totaling transactions, you'll need to use additional tools alongside Zapier.

Please let me know if you need further assistance setting this up or have any other questions. We're here to help.

Hey @Pastor Scott, just checking in—did Jammer’s reply help to point you in the right direction?

If not, perhaps you could use an AI app to analyze data. Something like a Analyze and Return Data (AI by Zapier), or Conversation With Assistant (ChatGPT) action for example could potentially work for this.

You can learn more about how to use those actions here:

Alternatively, perhaps you could try using Zapier Agents to analyze the data and have it add the data to the spreadsheet. You can learn more about how to build agents here: Build an agent in Zapier Agents

Want to make sure you’re all set, so please keep us posted on how you’re getting on! 🙂
