Dear Zapier Support Team,

I am experiencing a persistent issue with the "Google Slides - Create Presentation From Template" action in my Zap. The Zap is designed to create a new Google Slide presentation each time a Google Form is submitted. The form data is correctly populating text fields in my Google Slides template, including player names, stats, and social media/highlight links.

However, the image for the player is not updating correctly with each new form submission. Instead of using the "Player Picture" URL provided in the Google Form (which feeds into a Google Sheet), the Zap consistently populates the Google Slide with the same image that was present during the initial testing phase of the Zap setup.

My Zap:

  • Trigger: Google Forms -> Google Sheets (New Spreadsheet Row)
  • Action: Google Slides - Create Presentation From Template

Details of the Issue:

  • The "Player Picture" column in my Google Sheet is definitely receiving the correct and unique image URLs from each new form submission (I have verified this by checking the sheet).
  • The text data from the new form submissions is correctly populating the corresponding fields in the new Google Slides presentations.
  • The issue is isolated to the image; it remains the same test image regardless of the "Player Picture" URL in the new Google Sheet row.

Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken:

  • I have reviewed the mapping in the "Google Slides - Create Presentation From Template" step multiple times. I have ensured that the {{Player_Picture}} placeholder in my Google Slides template is mapped to the "Player Picture" column from the Google Sheets step. The mapping appears to be correctly pointing to the dynamic data.
  • I have tested the Google Sheets trigger to confirm that it is indeed picking up the data from the newest row, including the correct image URL.
  • There are no intermediate steps in my Zap that would be manipulating or filtering the image URL.

It seems that the Google Slides action is not correctly processing the dynamic image URL from each new Zap run and is instead using a cached or default image from the initial setup.

Could you please provide guidance on how to ensure that the "Google Slides - Create Presentation From Template" action correctly uses the unique image URL from each new Google Form submission to populate the {{Player_Picture}} placeholder?

For the DATA IN for the GSlides step, the screenshots don’t show the field for the: Player_Picture

Not sure if that was a mistake when when capturing the screenshots OR if you are trying to indicate that that field does not show on the DATA IN.

 

 

The field does not show in DATA IN but it is being mapped in the configuration step as seen on screenshot
