Hi there folks,

I've recently built a workflow whereby a user

- Fills in a Jotform

- Open Ai generates roughly 600 words of text using information from the jotform

- Google Docs generates a doc filled with the text. The doc is based off a very simple template - "User Name's Output", then the generated text

I've run this Zap in tests maybe 15 times over the last month, but not at all since last week. Today I had my first "real" user use the form, but the Google Docs step returned an error:

Google Docs

The app returned "User rate limit exceeded".

General documentation seems to suggest that this happens when lots of submissions get made in a short space of time - I don't feel like my usage patterns seem excessive though? This user was the only one to use the form today.

I also ran the Zap again afterwards, and it ran fine. Only the "real" user got the error.

Any thoughts as to why this might have occured would be greatly appreciated!

Hey @rachelramz, thanks for joining the Community! 🎉

I just came across this and saw that you’d reached out to our Support team, who identified it as a temporary issue. I couldn’t see whether their suggestion of replaying the errored Zap runs solved things for you, but I wanted to share the details from their reply here in case it’s helpful to others who might also be running into a “User rate limit exceeded” error:

I've taken a look at our internal logs, and Google returned a 403 - User rate limit exceeded when attempting to execute the Google Docs step. This happens due to the number of requests that can be executed per minute per user. Here's Google's documentation on usage limits: https://developers.google.com/workspace/docs/api/limits

Since the limit resets every minute, replaying the failed Zap run should help fix the issue: https://help.zapier.com/hc/en-us/articles/8496241726989-Replay-Zap-runs#h_01HPFHE6KYSVVCTYJNPX70BC5T.

I’ll mark this as the best answer for now, but please feel free to reach back out if replaying didn’t do the trick.

In the meantime, happy Zapping! 😁⚡
