Hi Zapier team,

I’ve set up an automation where Hotmart triggers a Zap whenever a specific course is sold. I’m passing the buyer’s data (name, email, and phone number) from Hotmart into ManyChat, using dynamic fields.

However, when trying to create or update a subscriber in ManyChat using the email field, I receive the following error message:

“Error from halted execution: Permission denied to import email. Please contact support to enable this feature.”

It seems that ManyChat is rejecting the email data import due to some kind of restriction or permission issue.

Can you clarify:

  • What exactly causes this restriction?

  • Is this a limitation on the Zapier side or does it require permission from ManyChat’s support team?

  • How can I proceed to automatically create/update a subscriber with the user’s email from Hotmart?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Best regards,

Hi @Gabriela,

Welcome to the Community.

The error "Permission denied to import email" in your Zap between Hotmart and ManyChat is due to restrictions on ManyChat's side, not Zapier's. ManyChat limits email imports to comply with privacy rules, so you'll need to contact their support to request access or check if your account settings or tier allow this feature. In the meantime, you can use alternative identifiers like phone numbers or user IDs. Once granted permission, ensure your Zap is correctly configured to map the email from Hotmart to ManyChat.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions or issues.

Hi there, @Gabriela 👋

Were you able to get this sorted?

If not, it could be that importing contacts hasn’t been enabled on your ManyChat account yet. According to this discussion on the ManyChat community if it’s not enabled it can cause that sort of “Permission denied” error.

In which case, you’d need to head over to https://app.manychat.com/support/features and click on the Request Approval link under Import Contacts:
