Hi I am trying to pull data from a Google Sheet into Asana.

The Sheet is pulling data in from a Wix form, and this automation is working fine.

However, most of the data is pulling in from the Google Sheet into Asana except for the field that is a dropdown where the user has to select one option.

I can’t work out why it won’t populate, but it’s refusing to put any data into the cell.

I’ve attached some screenshots. The fourth one which is of Asana, has two entries filled in because I tried to pull in the information from Asana, but the information is incorrect so that’s not working either.

I could have manually inputted the information myself in the same time I’ve spent trying to make Zapier work!

Hi @PWilona

The Asana dropdown field likely expects the internal ID for each dropdown field list option.

Hi @PWilona,

We just wanted to see how everything is going with your Zap. Did Troy's recommendation get the job done? Feel free to reach out if you need further assistance with your Zap. We're glad to address any concerns and assist you.

We're looking forward to your response.

Hi no this doesn’t help. When I’ve done the custom value, then it only allows me to select one option from the dropdown. Is there anyone I can jump on a call with and do a screenshare?

Hi @PWilona,

You're experiencing an issue with how data from a dropdown field in your Google Sheet is passed to Asana via Zapier. This could be due to incorrect field mapping, mismatched data formats, or Asana expecting an internal ID rather than text. To troubleshoot this, ensure the dropdown is mapped correctly and the data format matches Asana's requirements, and consider using the 'Customs Value' option in Zapier if needed. Also, check that the Asana field accepts API input. Once set up correctly, your Zap should work smoothly.

Suppose you're still experiencing issues after checking these points. Please provide more details about the error message you're receiving or any additional information about the field that's not populating. This will help us better understand the issue and provide a more accurate solution.

APi input is beyond my knowledge and skillset. I thought Zapier was supposed to be easy to use without special knowledge? I’d really appreciate if I could do a screenshare and speak to someone.

Hi @PWilona,

We understand that APIs can be intimidating if you're unfamiliar, but Zapier is designed to be user-friendly and accessible without technical expertise. While some tasks may be more complex, helpful resources are available. Although live support like screen sharing isn't an option from the community manager, guidance is available through the Zapier Learning Center, which offers helpful articles and tutorials: https://zapier.com/learn/ or you could contact Zapier support team for additional assistance.
