  • Delay Until in Delay by Zapier error: Missing Required Field in Zapier. Sending Follow-up Texts from Google Sheets.

I’m getting the following “Delay Until” error:

 

Required field "Date/Time Delayed Until" (delay_until_date) is missing.

 

Here’s my setup:

This is part of a Zap to send follow-up texts to people we’ve met. I’m telling Zapier to “Delay Until” a specific date that I input into a specific column.

 

More Info:

-- Date is in MM/DD/YYYY format

-- Zap triggers when I add or update a row in that spreadsheet

-- All dates are within 1 month

-- Data being pulled from a Google sheet spreadsheet

 

How do I fix this error?

Check your Zap Runs history to see the DATA IN/OUT for each Zap step to help you troubleshoot.

The error indicates the mapped value was missing (empty/blank/null).

 

Can you post a screenshot with how your Zap trigger step is configured?

Thank you for your reply! I’m triggering when there’s a new or updated row in Google Sheets. More specifically, I’m asking Zapier to trigger when I input something in the “Zapier Type” column (which has input values of “Offer Follow-Up” or “Never answered/ Never visited”). This particular Zap checks further down the chain for “Never answered/ Never visited” specifically and sends a text message on the “Delay Until” date. There’s a sister Zapier that sends a different text message for “Offer Follow-Up”.

 

I’m wondering if the issue is that I’m asking Zapier to trigger when there’s a new or updated input in the “Zapier Type” column but then delaying until the date listed in “Zapier Start Date”? Should I just make the trigger off of the “Zapier Start Date” to match trigger with the delay?

The Zap trigger being used is for a NEW or UPDATED row.

Meaning it will trigger on NEW rows, and UPDATED rows for the specified column.

Make sure to add a Filter as step 2 if you only want to trigger for UPDATED row, to check for the existing of certain field values that are used in the Zap action steps.
