Good morning..

I’m trying to create a simple zap that copies an event from one calendar in one Google account to a calendar in a different account. I am experiencing the same issues as this archived post from a few years ago, where the answer provided points to a zap that no longer exists, but I can’t reply to it as it’s locked, so I’m recreating the request!

Essentially the second portion of the zap that recreates the new event only gives me two options, “Quick Add” or “Add Detailed Event”, both of which require me to enter information that I want to have scraped from the original event. I tried using AI to create the step, but it doesn’t seem to be working. I’m surprised this isn’t one of the default suggestions, am I missing something?

I’m so sorry you’ve not had a reply here sooner. Were you since able to get this sorted?

If not, it should be possible to have a Zap trigger when an event is created on one Google Calendar and make a duplicate event on a different calendar. You’d just need to make sure that the trigger and action are using different Google account app connections:

  • Trigger: New Event (Google Calendar) - connected to the first Google Account’s calendar.
  • Action: Create Detailed Event (Google Calendar) - connected to the second Google Account’s calendar.

While there isn’t “Copy Event” type of action available, if you map the relevant event fields from the trigger into that Create Detailed Event action that should ensure that a duplicate event is created in the second calendar.

Keep us posted on your progress with this, want to make sure you’re all set!

Hi SamB - thanks for the reply .. This has gotten me MUCH closer to the intended result .. I had tried this method before, but didn’t realize I could use the “/” for field mapping!

It’s nearly perfect, but for some reason, even though the TZ information was correctly displayed as UTC -4 (aka EST), it was still bumping the events created on the target calendar as an hour ahead, I am assuming due to daylight savings.

A quick google search, and someone on reddit had mentioned I needed to set the TZ in my profile, which I found was blank. Once I set that to EST, and refreshed the Zap, it worked as intended! Thanks for the help .. it would have been great if the guidance on the initial zap creation had made it clearer I could use the slash for the mapping, since  I assumed I needed to manually enter information into this field, which obviously wouldn’t have worked for my needs!

Cheers!
