Bigcommerce works when I test it but it won't trigger by itself

I have tried this workaround but it didn’t seem to help -- I am still not getting triggers from a new order on Big Commerce, even if I leave the filter off completely

Sorry to hear that workaround didn’t do the trick @abbyrosecases.

Another potential workaround you could try would be to trigger from the email notifications of new orders, similar to the one suggested by @Chris_R previously, but would use Email Parser instead of Gmail:

  1. Set up a Email Parser to create a unique @robot.zapier.com email address - see our Set up your Email Parser account in Zapier for details.
  2. Enable order email notifications in BigCommerce to go to that email address: https://support.bigcommerce.com/s/article/Order-Notifications?language=en_US#enable
  3. Set the Zap to use the New Email (Email Parser) trigger - see our Trigger Zaps from new parsed emails for details.

Can you give that a try and let me know if you have any success with that workaround?

Hi @SamB or @abbyrosecases , do you know whether with this option the Zapier trigger is able to retrieve the following BigCommerce order information.

  • order ID
  • shipping address ID
  • Products ID
  • Products quantity

I found (during testing) that using the big commerce order trigger it would make that order data available which was crucial for my workflow and I am wondering whether the email parser approach makes that all available still?

FYI the BigCommerce Create Order Zap trigger is still broken and has not been fixed…

Thanks for reaching out here, @Jeremy_chirp_ai! I’ve just checked on the bug report and you’re right, it’s still not been resovled. We can’t provide any estimate as to when BigCommerce’s developers will be able to get this fixed by but I’ll be sure to keep the thread here updated if there’s any change in the status of the bug. I can see that the Support team have already got you added to the list of folks being affected by this issue, so you’ll get a notification from us as soon as it’s been resolved.

In the meantime, the BigCommerce guide here shows a copy of the type of information the email notifications would contain:

90fa29a4fffe70a4433f82cc0a417829.png
So it looks like you’d be able to get the Order IDshipping address (not shipping address ID), Product SKU (not Product ID) and Products quantity. Not sure if it’s possible to edit the order notification template in BigCommerce, but if it is perhaps you could update it to include the ID for the shipping address as well as the product?

Hope that helps. Let me know if you run into any issues setting up that workaround with Email Parser!
