There is a BambooHR Action called “Upload Employee File in BambooHR”. One of the fields that MUST be set is the “Category” field. The Zap setup throws an error no matter what you try and enter, so the zap cannot be created. HELP!!!!

Hi @rayzap

Good question.

Please post screenshots with how your have this Zap step configured so we can have context.

The trigger and Action 2 setup and test perfectly. The trouble is w Action 3. Action 3 requires that you select a document “Category” (of which I have about 10 over in BambooHR). But when you try to load the categories, Zapier is yielding an error. See screenshot of Action 3 below:

Otherwise try opening a ticket with Zapier Support: https://zapier.com/app/get-help

Does the BambooHR account need any special account permissions?

Some actions require a certain level of permissions to use them.
For example, the "Respond to Time Off Request" action can only be used by users who are able to approve time off requests.
Here are some helpful articles from BambooHR that describe how to configure permissions:

I think I just found the answer in another thread. It appears to be a true Zapier bug (see below). Can you speak to when we might expect this to be resolved? We really need to have this capability - especially as it is an officially published/advertised Zapier Action.

Hi @rayzap while the timeline ahead is unknown, I have gone ahead and added you to the feature request along with other users, thus once implemented, you’ll be one of the first to know. I wish I came bearing better news!

Hi Chanelle. Thanks for getting back with me. I did reach out to BambooHR as well. They said that the issue is probably that Zapier has the API call setup incorrectly for the “Upload Employee File” action, and that Zapier techs have to correct it on the Zapier backend to get it working. However, the BambooHR team is aware that the integration is not working and invited your team to reach out to them to get the API issue fixed. They said your tech team could reference my own support ticket with BambooHR to expedite the process. Screenshot of the ticket attached. Thanks!

@rayzap Hope all is well, thanks so much for following back up with this! For this, I am going to request you please reach out to our support team. I have removed the screenshot from this post to avoid sensitive information being available for the general public. If you have any other questions, please let us know!

Will do.

Hi folks! 👋

Just popping by with a quick update to share that the issue with the Upload Employee File (BambooHR) action is now resolved. 😁🎉

It should now be possible to use this action without errors after selecting an Employee and a Category to upload files. Really appreciate your patience while this was being worked on. If you run into any further issues please do reach back out to the Community, we’re always here and happy to help!
