Authentication failed: Greeting never received

i am using mailu webserver hosted on Debian and i can connect to it with no issues with outlook for ios and send /receive emails. however zapier will not work at all i am using tls port 465 . keep getting greeting never received.

Thanks for reaching out to the Zapier Community! The "greeting never received" error usually means Zapier can't establish a proper connection with your Mailu server. Start by verifying your SMTP settings—especially that port 465 is open and configured adequately for TLS. Also, check for any firewall rules blocking the connection, and confirm your SSL/TLS setup is valid with a complete certificate chain. Testing with tools like Telnet or OpenSSL can help pinpoint the issue. Lastly, make sure the credentials and server details in Zapier are accurate. If the problem persists, check your Mailu logs or contact Zapier Support with your setup details.

Did Jammer’s suggestions help to point you in the right direction? Or are you still having some trouble connecting your account? 

If you are still getting those “greeting never received” errors can you confirm which email app that’s showing that error? If that’s not the full error message, if you could share a screenshot showing the entire error you’re seeing that would me much appreciated. Just be sure to remove any personal info (names, emails etc.) before sharing using a tool like Zappy.

thanks for responding i never resolved the issue with  mailu so i just switched over to postfix and so far so good. thank you
