There are number of Phone & SMS type of apps available on Zapier, like the Verifone app or Real Phone Validation app for example, that you could use to validate a phone number. But they wouldn’t be able to verify or check whether the number is registered on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp currently have this API endpoint that could be used to verify a contacts phone number, but that is being deprecated:

Looking at the WhatsApp Cloud API that’s replacing their On-Premises API it seems that there isn’t an equivalent endpoint that you could use to start a WhatsApp number verification. There’s only the ability to verify your own WhatsApp number. So it doesn’t seem like this is going to be possible.

I’d recommend reaching out to WhatsApp’s Support team as well as our Support team to put in feature requests for this sort of functionality to be added. That way, once WhatsApp adds the necessary functionality to their Cloud API our engineers will be able to built it out on our side.

Sorry to not have a more immediate solution. Please keep us posted on how you get on with this—if WhatsApp’s support team are able to suggest a workaround or alternative solution in the meantime, I’d love to hear about it!

It looks like the 2Chat app is supported by Zapier, and based on the available actions, it does support validating WhatsApp numbers. Here’s a quick look at the supported actions in Zapier for 2Chat:
