Question

Translating Slack messages and posting them back to the channel

Hello -

I’m reaching dead ends with a lot of what I try, I am a complete beginner which isn’t helping! We recieve alerts in to a slack channel which come from an email bot. I’d like to be able to translate these messages immediately and post those translatations straight back to slack.

Slack recognises this as a file name, not a channel message, but Zap seems to recognise it as a channel message not a file name.

Im thinking of a process of a trigger in slack, but none of those seem to work, using formatter, then a translate fuction.

Hi and welcome to the Community, @appletoothpaste! 🎉

Just came across this and wanted to check how you’re getting on. Were you since able to get this solved?

If so, would you be up for sharing some details on how you fixed things? This could be really useful for others wanting to build similar workflows. 🙏

And if not, it sounds like the the content of the message isn’t coming over as expected - does the email bot post the email content as a file attachment?

That said, can you share some screenshots showing the configuration of the Zap’s trigger and actions steps? That will help to give us a better idea of how it’s currently set up and what might need to be changed to get it working. Just be sure to use a tool like Zappy to remove any personal info like names, emails etc. before sharing as this is a public space.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
