I am trying to create a work flow that syncs google calendar and monday.com.
What i ideally would love is for an item to be created once an event has been created in google calendar. AND for this item to update based on updated in google calendar.
I want the following to update:
1. Start Time
2. End Time
3. Status
Anyone that can help me?
That would be a really useful workflow! Having Google Calendar events auto-create and update items in monday.com with start/end times and status would save a ton of manual work. Hope someone can share a solid integration setup for this.
Hi
Jamie here from Zapier Support!
With what you are seeing to do, there isn’t a built in way specifically for syncing two systems. Instead, Zapier is just designed to send data one from (for example, from Google Calendar to Monday.com) when specific trigger events happens.
With that said, you could get close to creating that workflow with two Zaps: one for new events and one for updated events.
The first Zap would be the most straightforward, and would be:
- Trigger step: New Event in Google Calendar
- Action step: Create Item in monday.com
The second Zap would be a little more complicated, since the Google Calendar app doesn’t have a trigger just for Updated Events. The closest is a New or Updated Event trigger. Although the data from Google Calendar is super clear on where it was a new or updated event that caused that trigger. Because of that, you would want to use the following outline for that second Zap:
- Trigger step: New or Updated Event in Google Calendar
- Action step: set up a Filter step and set it to only continue if the created field from Google Calendar does not match the updated field
- Action: Get Items by Column Value in monday.com: You'll use this step to take some identifying information from that event in Google Calendar to find the corresponding items in monday.com (such as the Event title)
- Action: Update Item in monday.com: So you can take the item found in the previous step and update it with the information from that trigger step.
I hope that helps!
