According to the description in the Slack trigger for “New Message Posted to Private Channel” it should be capable of triggering off a multi-dm/group message.

When I try to set this up, it’s unable to find any records from the specified multi-dm. It only generates a sample data return. I am obtaining the channel ID in Slack via the About section for a channel. I can use this same ID to trigger of an emoji reaction and I can see data. It just can’t see new post data.

Am I misunderstanding this feature or is something broken?

Hi @amour

Try these tips:

Send a new message to the multi DM, then refresh the Zap trigger examples using the Find new records] button.

Turn the Zap ON and test live, then check your Zap Runs for activity:

Thanks for the response. No new records are found. I have two records showing, the first is left over from a test where I switched the ID to a private channel and the latest is some sort of sample data set.

I am going to create a new Zap and see if that changes anything.

Still the same with a fresh Zap. Not able to retrieve any records.

Did you try this?

Configure the Zap, then turn the Zap ON and test live, and check your Zap Runs for activity: https://zapier.com/app/history/
