Search Paypal after a delay

I have a paid newsletter with a 7 day free trial.  I can’t use Paypal as a trigger because it won’t trigger until the person actually pays, not when they set up the future payment for the free trial.  I’ve gone over options with Zapier support on this several times to find a solution, and we have one that works, but there’s no paypal information in the zap.  It’s triggered by the person adding themselves to the GetResponse list once they’ve paid.

That begin said I need to have an automation that searches Paypal for an actual payment at the end of that 7 day trial, and then either removes them from my newsletter list (GetResponse) or allows them to stay.

Ideally this is built into the original zap after a 7-day delay, but I’m even happy to build a separate zap, if I can find a way for it to work.

Ideas?

Hi @darhull

Good question.

There are 0 Zap actions for PayPal: https://zapier.com/apps/paypal/integrations#triggers-and-actions

You may want to think about logging your PayPal transactions in a GSheet or Airtable that you can use in the Zap to check to see if a payment was made after the delay.

An alternative would be to use Stripe: https://zapier.com/apps/stripe/integrations#triggers-and-actions

I thought about triggering it with a subscription cancellation but I can’t see how to do that either.

@Troy Tessalone Ok, going for a Google sheet here to make things as easy as possible because I already have paying clients.  However, I can’t get the zap to pull Firstname, Lastname and email. It only pulls first name and last name.  I’ve refeshed the fields, but it won’t give me the option of an email address even though I have all three options on the spreadsheet, and even filled in the email address by hand.

Argh, this is frustrating.

@darhull

We’d need to see screenshots with how your Zap steps are configured in order to have enough context to evaluate and advise, thanks.
